honestly, id be cool with some limited ads that dont take over our screens or expand out of nowhere or force us to watch videos or those game ads on a phone, or the nasty ads that try to redirect our browsers or execute code in other ways…. but the subscription price aint happening. no way in hell, not worth it.
I am looking at Trakt’s new UI and I still can not believe what I see.
It is an unfinished product, and the Product Owner acts like we can all be their beta testers.
Apart from that, I would say it would be nice, if you at least make “Hide watched” functional as it does not do anything at the moment.
Throwing AI at the team will only give them a(nother) reason to ignore feedback
I can’t see any of my lists with that super helpful filter that lets me hide shows I’ve watched. This is literally the only thing I ever wanted trakt to do, and the new format removed the feature. I’m so bummed… please give us a “Trakt Classic” view.
Edit: Man, I’m going through it again, and in more detail… I genuinely hate this. Like, this is awful in every possibly conceivable manner. Please immediately get rid of this, nobody wants it!
Edit 2: I finally found the filters… so it’s barely functional now. I still really dislike this, though. It feels like everyone lost 70% of the features overnight.
This site is now completely useless. How can I find an episode of a show I’m watching, wheres my progress screen ? I see nothing but useless web pages. Time to move on.
I can confirm just now
VIP MONTHLY Pay trakt, inc. A$8.85/MTH
WORKS TO SEE previous V2 UI, as per comment “VIP users will continue to have access to V2 for now” on ↩️ Free Users Redirect to V3
AND If you google search any Trakt.tv site or List and get shoved to a app.trakt.tv URL….then just delete the “app.” portion of the URL as VIP and see the older V2 site version… for now…
Best to you all
Please, the new web version is horrible, not made for laptops, and we lost many features!
Bring back the old dashboard.. this was what I am used to and works for most peoples needs. I want one page to look at the week in review.. The new site is terrible . Why did you put the old dashboard Atbleast give an offer of either page as a menu option
From what I’ve seen, VIP members still have access to old version. That will soon change for you as well.
I did the same. I would recommend a site that allows import from trakt but they removed my last post when I was looking for alternative sites. Just do a search and you’ll find some other options
I thought it was because I had the old version bookmarked. When I open a new page in the address bar it brings me to the new version.
I am not sure why we still don’t have a response from leadership. My worry is that they are just going to archive this thread without any resolution.
The sunken cost fallacy is what ended up killing Digg, and it’ll probably kill Trakt, too.
Naively I think many are hoping Trakt will see the light and act like Reddit with their old.reddit.com option for those who prefer something functioning they’re used to.
Trashkt is not made for desktops either, for what it is worth.
It’s near unusable.
Already watched the same spectacle with the phone version, it going from OK to junk.
Greetings,
My name is Raúl. I’ve been using Trakt since 2015.
I’m someone who genuinely loves improvement. I’ve been an early adopter and beta tester in many projects over the years, not just out of curiosity, but because I build things myself, from both a technical and business perspective.
Trakt has always been, to me, one of the most powerful yet simple tools any cinema lover could ask for. The integrations, the ecosystem, and the evolution over the years have been incredible. I’ve recommended Trakt to countless people for almost a decade.
That’s why what’s happening now feels so difficult to watch.
The statement that the new experience “supports the core workflows most free users rely on” does not reflect my experience at all.
At one point, I logged in and couldn’t perform even the most basic actions:
-
filtering watched content
-
fading watched items
-
separating movies and shows in large lists
These are not edge features. These are core behaviors built over years of use.
What concerns me most is not just the changes, but how they’ve been introduced.
This feels less like an evolution and more like being forced into a beta version without choice.
I fully understand the technical reasoning behind moving toward a unified, cross-platform codebase. I know the complexity behind that decision. But the way this transition is happening is breaking trust with long-time users.
Many of us would have gladly helped:
-
through an opt-in beta
-
through a gamified testing phase
-
or by giving early access to VIP users
Instead, the current approach makes it feel like the existing, stable experience is being replaced before the new one is ready.
After 10 years without ever considering alternatives, I found myself exporting my data and testing other platforms in just a couple of days.
That alone should say everything.
This is not written out of anger, but out of concern.
Trakt is not just a tool. It’s a platform that has connected people, built communities, and created habits over more than 15 years.
Please don’t let that be lost in the name of progress.
There is still something incredibly valuable here.
And many of us want to stay.

They announced “Lite” as something of an experiment, something to complement the heavy main experience (V2) on less powerful devices or those with smaller screens.
Later, they tried making “Lite” opt-in with a toggle in the top banner. Feedback on the new design was largely negative.
They briefly made it the default for users not in-the-know about https://trakt.tv/dashboard. Feedback was still negative.
Over the last year-plus, many users have written pages and pages about what’s frustrating about the new design, but actual changes to the new layout are slow, incremental, and still haven’t addressed major concerns like use of horizontally-scrolling widgets on a PC or the low information density. These are fundamentals of the design (originally intended for mobile!) that I assume can’t be easily changed mid-stream.
I’ve been around since 2013 myself. It is almost physically painful to see this particular cookie crumble, as I’ve used it many times each week for most of the last 13 years.
Worst fking update. First the forced v3 and now complete removal of v2. Way to go to retain consumers. Removed the best features, the ui is horrible, so tough to use anything. Gonna stop using this platform. Can someone guide me on how to export my data?
Man what a disaster. The enshitification ever marching. Not only the new interface is pure garbage (in terms of loss of functionality), this forum is convoluted AF and its very unclear why I can’t make a new post or reply to some threads. I cannot comprehend how you can make both so bad, the only explanation I have is that none of the developers actually use their own service.
With this new update, getting to my history is now a chore, and the history view is GUTTED and shows like 2 things at a time, instead of nice list like before. Adding stuff to my lists is now more annoying and there’s no confirmation in the UI whether something was added to the list or not???, none of the buttons everywhere are labeled (have the developers heard of a concept called tooltips?)
TV shows no longer have a “go to next episode” button? Or go to season page? How do you rate an episode now? How do you see list of episodes in a season? Like holy shit, these developers are braindead, I cannot comprehend how anyone thought this was a good idea at any stage.. I just don’t understand…
I guess I now have to find a way to export my history to some other service and forget about this one because it is quite literally unusable now. Well done guys!
