Hey, I can’t reply to this following post anymore, why is that the case? As far as I see, it’s not closed? I already did reply as the thread was new, now there is no button anymore.

Same problem here. Strange…
Now you mention it, I can’t either hah.
Some of the other topics I also can’t reply to include “Expand Watchlist limit for free users” and “Stop Limiting PersonalPrivate Notes”. I don’t see any obvious reasons from those threads.
I think that might be the default settings for discourse forums where trust level X has an X amount of replies to a topic, or maybe within X days, and after that period you can react again.
Though, ilias is a higher trust level (Member versus Basic), so idk.
According to the default config, as soon as you’re trust level 1 and above the post count restrictions are gone.
@lifeiscrazy Are you able to still reply to that post?
well, I have the reply button still, but I haven’t tested it to actually post something, I’ll try!
// EDIT: I can, I tagged you in it too, very strange! (I’ve only posted one other reply in that thread before, for what it’s worth)
// EDIT2: Now I’m wondering whether the thread has been somehow made VIP only or something. Since you guys are having issues, and Impakt and I are able to post just fine… curiouser and curiouser.
Ah welp, after some more digging I think I found the root cause: the Forums Feedback - Trakt Forums tag is reply only for VIP now it seems.
Oh really? How did you spot that?
Is it because of this description? Because I think that just haven’t been updated since the forums became public months ago hahaha.
I just opened a heck of a lot of different posts. Looks like “feature requests” and/or “Forums Feedback” are tags on posts I can’t reply to.
That’s odd, can’t help but think they are either regretting their decision to make the forum public and forgot a couple settings :madlad: (I need that discord emoji here)
Or that they forgot to make it so non-vip can’t see the threads either.
It’s kinda odd being able to see discussions but not being able to reply to them.
And without communication (again).
On the other hand, a public feature requests section is a good thing. Storygraph has that too, though you need to be Plus (paid) member to be able to comment or suggest something.
Yesterday non-vip were able to post just fine.
Definitely getting whiplash from all this. I’m not sure which is worse, taking features and telling us about it, or just yanking them away whilst conversations in that thread were potentially still ongoing with the Product Manager that was responding.
This is not how you treat a userbase you supposedly care for.
P.S I’m totally all for a VIP only section of the forums, hell, I even said as much just a day ago:
but there were a million better ways to handle it, all better than what’s happened here.
Yep, “Feature Requests”, “Forums Feedback”, and “Announcements” as well. They all appear to have become read-only for non-VIP users.
Oh wow, that’s the worst of the three for us to not be able to express our opinions on! Nice spotting
Sorry for posting again, but just thought we should @Maddcow since they unfortunately were the first user left in the dark as to why they couldn’t reply
anymore yesterday
Thanks for the tag because it’s likely I wouldn’t have seen this new thread.
Wow, the Trakt shenanigans continue with bizarre decisions and no communication.
Tbh I don’t really see the need for a VIP only bit. Forums should be completely open for both free and paid users to express their opinions on features as well, this is really poorly handled by Trakt and sad to see if they are limiting what free users can comment on.
I’ve literally NEVER seen this degree of censorship or lousy communication in ANY online group. I’m genuinely blown away by this.
Towards the end of last week, I started to waver and considered leaning towards a monthly subscription but with what’s been going here over the last 4 days, Trakt can shove my subscription where the sun don’t shine. They won’t be getting one dollar out of me now.
Please bear with us for a few days while we shuffle some forum settings. The intention isn’t to censor anything, but we are trying to streamline some of the forums so we can handle responses more efficiently.
For example, we’ll post official Trakt stuff in Announcements and instead of giant threads we’d prefer more targeted individual posts that we can reply to and mark resolved. The streaming scrobbler is a good example of this being way too big of a thread and very hard for me to track outstanding issues.
Once we figure out the new structure, we’ll post an announcement with the details on what changed.
So more changes with no announcement? I see a pattern here.
funny how that happened at the same time as all the negative criticism huh
