Am I blind or was the topic with hundreds of complaints removed from the forum?
Iâm blind then. I see it shows now only new posts count. Iâm sure yesterday evening it still was showing total count even if there were new posts. Maybe Discourse changes how it shows based on the total.. Anyway, good itâs still here
Not blind, merely seeing the future
That particular thread has since been closed and hidden. Itâs still accessible via a direct link, although a significant number (at least 70) of the >900 replies have been deleted:
Other large threads are completely gone. Here are a few that I noticed, but Iâm sure there were plenty more. All 4 of these were among the most active topics (in terms of reply count) in Trakt Forums history:
Upcoming VIP Renewal Pricing Changes (2)

Breach of terms and conditions, hence breach of contract

What I Would Like to Remain a VIP User

[Poll] Will you keep your VIP membership at $60?
https://forums.trakt.tv/t/poll-will-you-keep-your-vip-membership-at-60/56923/130
When I last saw the poll, it was nearing 900 votes and had well over 100 replies. Itâs a shame to lose such a fascinating mosaic:
Thatâs definitely an encouragement from the Trakt team themselves to leave the platform. Even though they posted:
They canât just ban me, because when I signed up and payed, these were not the rulesâŚ
Having said that, I plan to make a much simpler open source Trakt alternative based on TMDB on top of Grav CMS at some point. Itâs easy to find me on GitHub
Itâs also been archived along apparently with quite a few other threads.
I also see that they set this thread to private: Upcoming VIP Renewal Pricing Changes (2).
This way itâs hidden if youâre not logged in.
Oh, I guess that one is a VIP exclusive now; I just get the same âpage doesnât existâ message.
whoever opened that thread put it in a forum that is locked to VIP only yes, but it can be moved/changed
It was open to non-VIPs until yesterday; I posted a comment there 34h ago. I received notifications about reactions and replies, but then all traces of it disappeared. It must have been moved to a VIP category shortly after I posted.
Through another platform a banned user reached out to me, with the following screenshot:
They sent him this message and suddenly his account was silently deleted. I guess that will happen with others too.
If you donât see me on the forum anymore, then they have probably deleted me too.
if your only goal is to argue then yes theyâll silence or ban you. if you engage in respectful discussion then you have nothing to worry about
the royal âyourâ
At least one of my posts was deleted as off-topic, although I donât think it was
Situation with Trakt is unfortunately getting worse and worse for the past year
While thatâs all nice and logical, everything recently from Trakt has been anything but logical.
Weâre talking about a company that broke their own ToS wrt the notification period of price changes, and as far as I know, are yet to even notify their users of that via email and alert them of the updated date. Let alone make sure the original email got to customers in the first place.
Not to mention they silenced McBaumwolle (according to their status thingy). I havenât seen anything super disrespectful from them. They did ask questions though ⌠wonder if that was it
well like i said, if the only goal is to argue then theyâll silence/ban people. people have asked questions and gotten answers to those questions and then keep repeating the same questions to fish for a different answer. everyone is trying to catch someone saying something they can crucify them for.
While that user may not have been disrespectful or vulgar, itâs the incessant questioning that likely caused it. and itâs not just them, there were others that were silenced/banned for similar reasons. and of course, going around a ban by making a new account to post with will break the user agreement.
People need to remember, posting on any forum requires that you abide by their terms and those terms are subject to change. Think facebook and twitter, etc.
I totally agree. However, temporarily muting users for a certain time period is one thing, but sudden deletion during that period is uncanny.
I wish they didnât delete all communications when a user is banned. I had a somewhat important private message thread that has lost all of a banned users replies to me.
that might be a limitation of the discourse platform, but yeah it would be nice if some of the stuff wasnât removed
