Can someone explain rank in custom lists, please? I hope my post makes sense lol
I have a few custom lists, one in particular for movies newly released to streaming. I have it ordered by rank, descending. Up until now the newest one was added as the highest rank number, the numbers being consecutive; basically the same as sorting by date added. The last rank number was 610.
I recently deleted the first 100 I added from months ago as it was getting quite long. Now when I add a new movie it is given a random rank number putting them somewhere in the middle of the rank list, instead of at the end (even though I deleted the 100 the last rank number stayed at 610, and now newly added items are being ranked way back at 4xx odd)
How do I get the rank back to consecutively without having to manually reorder the items in the list each time?
I’ve attached a screenshot of the list sorted by date so that you can see the rank order is now all mixed up.
Rank I believe is the order you add them in first come first serve. Regardless of how else you sort it. I see you sorted by release date. Just because you sort by release date won’t mean rank will also re-sort. Look at your date added, it matches the rank #. Newer added item to the list has a higher rank #.
There are actually 500 movies, the new ones over 150 below the latest rank number. So, when I delete ranks 1-50, for example, the next ranks move to fill those numbers, but somewhere in the middle there is now a gap of 50 where the next added to the list then go on to fill. Now my list is only oldest to newest when sorted by date - by rank is all over the place
Hi! I’m not sure why it’s doing this, but have you checked your default sorting for the list? You can also reset your rank order by setting the order you’d like and clicking the “set current order as rank” setting on the iOS app!
It’s set to rank > descending, so naturally with the ranks everywhere the newest added is somewhere in the middle lol.
Now I wish I had an iPhone as that feature is just what I’m looking for. Unfortunately I’m an android phone! The idea of dragging each one to a new rank on the website would be far too difficult, considering I add new movies every single day
