Yep, that was my interpretation of the cringey milestone description, as well.
What was lost returns, timelines are realigned, and the long arc finally makes sense. This is the final confrontation. Feature parity is achieved, loose ends are tied up, and the platform feels whole again. The dust settles, the system stabilizes, and Trakt emerges stronger… not just rebuilt, but ready for what comes next.
Amusingly—and also disappointingly—it looks like they went ahead with the forced redirection despite some significant missing features from the Infinity War milestone. Degraded access to settings and history (“temporal views”) are the most common things I’ve seen people post about in the last day or so. These and others were supposed to be completed by March 16 but are 2 days overdue.
Many features still not here. For example I don’t see TV shows that I finished watching. At the old we can also see the shows that we finished In the progress page. Or we could see the history of a TV show only. Now we don’t have that too. At least they can let us use the old interface until they finish this.
sadly back in January they said they wont have that option because their reasoning behind it was that ‘v3 was built from scratch’ and to them it wouldn’t make sense. its actually a pain.
look if they really want v3 to stay. at least keep it as the main look for trakt mobile, the ui and feel fits as an app. literally the domain that we’re forced to be on for nonvips is “app.trakt.” let v2 remain for trakt web. its common sense
i’ve seen some critical comments on the subreddit get removed by the mods, but are actual Trakt users actually getting the axe for posting critiques on these forums? if so, that’s a new level of insanity.
The redesign is honestly garbage. It looks cheap and ugly. I much prefer the last version. It seems like this new version is clunkier, with it harder to navigate and requiring more steps to do much of anything. This was a bad move on your part.
This is an abomination. UBlock and Nord’s threat protection disabled to confirm it wasn’t a me-issue. Since it’s clear that there’s no plan to return to the functional V2 UI for non-VIP users, and I’m not willing to pay to access basic functionality that was free a day ago, i’m exporting my data and moving to ReelGood. It might have a lot of the same issues V3 has, but at least it works!
I really hate this UI. Basic information i could see at a glance now is really hard to find or not visible at all. And i can’t even mark as watched an episode if according to the web it hasn’t released yet…maybe it is time to move on and find a new home (i have been here since 2018 T.T)
So, here we are. After so many years using the fantastic website Trakt used to be, for the first time I’m considering looking for something else.
I’ve been around as a loyal user since V1 (who remembers it?), I helped with the difficult transition to V2 and overlooked many of the questionable new management decisions of recent times (purple visual change, strict lists limitations, the library mess and so on…), but this latest idea of forcing non-VIP users to use a clearly unfinished, soulless, unusable and stripped down V3 version (and I’m trying to be kind in judgements here) both on apps and web it is unacceptable to me. It feels like a complete lack of respect towards your users.
I think I’ll give you some days to have a second think and make V2 available again to everyone, or at least make some significant improvements on V3, listening to the many complaints you are receiving. If nothing will happen soon, with my heart broken, I’ll be forced to start looking for alternatives.
As a closing point, in case of such an impacting decision, I would have appreciated some words from Justin himself, instead of the usual aseptic “announcement” full of corporate bullshit. We didn’t even get a plan explaining which missing features will be recovered and when. How can you pretend us to trust you after being so shady with us? So sad to see a passionate project becoming such an impersonal company.
Still hoping to find in you a little bit of good sense, I’ll follow what will happen in the next days before taking my final decision. You probably won’t care anyway, but at least be aware that you are disappointing your userbase.
It doesn’t work for me. At all. Just doesn’t load…a bunch of white boxes with some sort of wave animation, but it’s completely and utterly non-functional. Great job migrating before testing, guys.
Trakt is getting too much ridicule and closed the comments on the initial post lol.
v3 is so goddamn ugly and so clunky and big to use. I don’t want to use this knock off netflix ui
