The new look and operation is stupid. The user designer needs a demotion. Worst look and operation ever. Nothing makes sense!
That was absolutely written by an LLM, or someone who lets it re-write their ideas completely. What do you think the chances are the redesign is being vibe-coded by junior devs? Microsoft can’t even release an update without bricking PCs every month due to their vibe-coding. What do you think is going to happen here?
Congrats, Trakt! You’re acting as if you were bought by private equity. The new UI is a trend-chasing copycat of the worst streaming services, and the UX is a fraction of what was possible before, with a UI that feeds into exactly the problem that Letterboxd created for themselves where jokey hot-take meme “reviews” have overtaken any legitimacy the site may have at one time had.
V.3 is still hiding writer & crew credits for everything below lazy-load extra rows of suggested content, meaning you have to scroll, wait for it to load, and scroll again to the bottom of the page and then click a dropdown just to see the actual release date*, all** of the creators, and any of the writers.

Total clown show. That’s it. The site is dead to me and I regret all the value I’ve added by reviewing shows and movies—especially ones that don’t have any other reviews.
They could at least finish v3 and only then replace v2. now we get half baked half functioning website. awefull.
Incredibly interesting. If by “endgame” we really get the missing features back, in sensible ways… excuse me while I doubt… then okay, I guess. This stuff has a chance of being decent.
But on the one hand, as things have been so far, that’s a HUGE if. And on the other hand… How many months has this been in the works by now? Why are major features still missing? Why are there such inconsistencies between desktop and the mobile app? And most of all: why force this rollout three and a half months before “feature parity is achieved”, for everyone to stew in anger in this sh×tpot, or else just up an leave??? Absolutely bonkers. Feature parity shouldn’t be left for the last update’s changelog, certainly not like this anyway - maybe 5-10%, with the really-barely-used features remaining on the list. Too many posts everywhere showing that that’s not the case. I can’t even.
Over 14 months. As it was only introduced in Jan 2015. Must’ve been worked on for longer though
Funny how it was introduced as an alternative but is now an replacement. Sad world.
Posts were removed there too. Im replying to the void in my first few posts there lol.
Also funny how in Feb 2025 the Trakt Lite at least looked better than it does now. There was a proper menu on the top and your profile with a drop-down to what I assume to also include settings. How can this version 14 months later be a downgrade in that way lol.
Trakt V3 Utterly unusable. Clearly a product manager has no sense of “success” look at your feedback! Nobody wants this, people will jump ship and find sense elsewhere. You’ve also put V2 behind a paywall and forcing everyone jump ship or pay.
Goodbye.
Okay, I also work in this industry, know the background of these changes “not everyone will like it, but the majority will and the others will get used to it…”
But when NOT EVEN A SINGLE POSITIVE COMMENT appears about the change but only negatives, that means something. ![]()
Usually other sites pre-release the brand-new-version-supercool-feature only for the VIP members first, because everyone wants that and they get more VIP members this way.
When in your business the biggest VIP magnet is that “you don’t have to use our new feature”… uhm… that also means something… ![]()
Think about this change again guys. Is this worth enough to make your community hate Trakt for it?
The new desktop UI is a major step backward. It feels like a mobile-first design forced onto a desktop experience, with less clarity, less usability, and worse information density. The most frustrating part is the disappearance of a clear dashboard showing new episodes and shows I need to catch up on. What used to be quick and functional now feels stripped down, inefficient, and poorly suited for desktop users.
Stop the forced redirects. If you want us to use V3, make it actually better than V2. Until then:
Provide a toggle in settings to opt-out of the V3 redirect.
Bring back vertical list views for progress and history.
Restore the data density that made Trakt the best tracking tool on the web.
I’ve used Trakt for years to manage my library, but if the goal is to make the web experience as frustrating as possible to push people toward a subscription or a mediocre app, you are succeeding.
Listen to your community. Bring back Classic.
In the end, it was quite fitting to choose Marvel movie titles for these major changes. Marvel’s own recent changes have turned out so well too.
#irony
I have been a VIP from 2015 until 2 weeks ago. As you can see i am not anymore and with this change i will not even be an unpaid user anymore.
Sad to see this (formerly) nice service going to shit, but ignoring your userbase does that
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
I’m kind of angry we can’t access to the V2. The V3 is not bad but lack way too much features that’s why I still used the old version. We can’t even see the series airtime anymore. Trakt is acting like it doesn’t depend on theirs users and it’s very disappointing. Those 2 versions can perfectly coexist togother I don’t see why I’m forced to use the new version
Exactly the V3 makes sense for the app version but for the web version it’s not good, the V2 was good enough I don’t see why this change was made.
They used to give VIPs the choice of what layout they wanted for the Year in Review page… But not anymore.
For some reason I don’t think they like giving people choices anymore… Unless the choice is to be a VIP or not.
I should not have said anything because now this is being directed to V3.
- This is a paid service that I no longer seem to have access to.
SIMKL is crap but it lets you import your Trakt data.
All the other alternatives I have found are crap as well or doesn’t cover everything.
Only thing decent is V2 but they are trying to get rid of it
If you want to try to use an Android App instead… SeriesGuide is good. It can be used with and/or without a connection to Trakt.
Guess I’m piling on here…On a desktop, is really the only way to scroll through episodes in a season to carefully click in between episode thumbnails and then use your keyboard left/right arrows to horizontally scroll? Usually there are larger arrows on either end of the horizontal row that you can click with your mouse to scroll left/right.
I am told you can hold Shift to scroll horizontally with the mouse wheel.
ah yep that works thanks! Still very clunky to me.
Very clunky. Horizontal scrolling only works well on TV UIs, and sort-of on mobile (but vertical scrolling is still better*). The current V3 desktop web experience is that of a mobile app stretched to fill one’s PC monitor. Not great.
* In my experience, mobile apps with both horizontal and vertical gestures tend to get confused about which way you’re swiping and do the wrong thing fairly often.
Hi everyone.
Just wanted to jump in and say: today I transferred my data to one of the other services because of a forced V3 design. Gonna figure out how to delete my account here tomorrow. It was fun while it lasted.
The new design is very unintuitive and clunky. And the worst of it all: I can’t find several features and interfaces I would include in my “core Trakt experience”. None of the Trakt alternatives are as convinient for me as Trakt used to be, but right now it is actually significantly worse.
The service’s management can bring all the “metrics” they want while explaining their decisions but I find this redesign and the fact that the actually good interface have become paywalled (and probably will disappear completely in the future?) very anti-consumer and destructive.
No shame to anyone who is OK with the changes but I’m not. See ya, friends.
