Freemium Experience: More Features for All with Usage Limits

So what happened to the items that were in my collection before this ridiculous cash grab? Now all of a sudden my tv show collection is exactly 30 and movies 70. I’m quite sure that wasn’t the case previously. Which ones got filtered out? It would have been nice to have been given time to thin out the lists to meet the new limit so things didn’t just disappear.

Can say 100 item per list without beeing VIP is going to kill this website

I think 100 item limit for the listings are ridiculous. I can do my listing on imdb freely. Listings are a way to create a community. You are breaking the community which means that in 5 years nobody will remember trakt.tv. You are shooting your own leg.

It’s time to migrate to another service.

Trakt is dying, wtf is 100 items by collection ? I’m here since 2014 and updates only remove things. Next thing is 1 check by items ? The basics mechanics of this site is limited by a VIP membership, you regress from the others apps…

Is that apply to ‘Your List’ and ‘Liked Lists’? … I won’t be able to add/mark more than 2 in each of them? :worried:

Yeah… so this is insane. :eye: :lips: :eye:

I pay for VIP not because I need the features, but to help support the website—for everyone.

But the changes lately? Laughable. After years of paying to keep this site going with no plans of ever leaving, I’m starting to think it’s time to explore other options. Let’s be honest—it’s obvious you’re either getting greedy or bitten off more than you can chew since diving into mobile apps. Whether you hired inexperienced designers for the rebrand/redesign or just did it yourself to save money, it shows. Now you’re forcing people into VIP while still refusing to address the long-standing pricing issue? Not the move.

At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if the free API is next to go.

What. A. Waste.

Yeah, so limiting collections is even crazier than your rebranding a few weeks back …

It was the only thing that Trakt had over Simkl for me. I guess I have nothing to keep me there anymore…

First of all, I appreciate that some previous VIP-only features are now available to everyone. But the trade-off?

I can see how people are able to limit their watchlist to 100 items, but your collection is something you cannot control. You have these things, you cannot make your collection adapt to Trakt.

Additionally, the 2 list limit and 100 items per list limit are in my opinion threatening to the community. It lives and strives through lists that people use to watch and explore franchises, discover timelines and find out what other people like to watch. I don’t think limiting this interaction in such a way is worth it…

I also think it’s worth pointing out one reason a limit of 100 makes zero sense. A lot of people have less free time to watch things—whether it’s due to poor mental health, working more to make ends meet, or just life in general. Without even factoring in the thousands of movies, shows, seasons, and episodes that already exist, the sheer number of new releases is increasing exponentially, making it almost impossible to keep up—let alone keep your watchlist or other lists under 100. Which is kinda ironic, considering the name of the site (and its purpose), no?

I categorize my TV Shows by the following lists:

  1. What I its on a list to watch(rarely used)
  2. What I am watching right now(basically shows that have not ended)
  3. Complete shows
  4. A hiatus or I stopped watching these for a reason or 2 and waiting on pick
  5. Dropped shows

These lists have 1=14 / 2=117 / 3=335 / 4=5 / 5=129 items on them all are unique no duplicates.
The list is simple, very simply but you are downgrading me to 2 lists of 100 items what can I even do with that.
Barely even casuals will have 2 lists 1 for what are watching and 1 for dropped or want to watch. With only 100 per list we may as well be dead or forced to changed site.
I do not mind I have changed 6 sites in the some 20 years since I was asked for recommendations in those 6 changes I have build my list simplistically as to not take to much time to rebuild

P.S. the anime/manga etc list is on a different site if I added that one I would need another 500+ slots/ BTW I do not make a list for movies with that I would need even more

Whoever did this needs to think a little bit more instead for just going for the quick cash grab cuz you will not have population left. It is small as it with the current TV/ movies being in a bad stage with only crap coming out

Edit: If anyone has recommandations for other sites feel free to message me

Sir, that’s a paid feature. You need to pay in order to export :joy:

My thoughts exactly. This is bad… I consider to make the move to SIMKL. At least the have reasonable pricing with their still available LTD.

No need to email Support. You can go to Profile > Preferences > Account and click Export at the bottom. I got my export in about a minute.

That looks a lot like a Discourse export… (so this forum)

Maybe the original question is about your Trakt data?

What do free users have here, besides import?

Yeah I don’t see the export option either. For anyone wanting to export, a few options:

As a free user, I don’t need all the new features being added. Instead, the reduced limits make my experience much worse. :frowning:
Now that my watchlist and other lists are already full, I can no longer add more movies I want to watch, which is absurd! I also believe that these reduced item limits will negatively impact the entire community, including VIP members.
So the title of this topic should be “Trakt Experience: LESS features for all”.
It’s time to look for alternatives…

Shoot. Looks like you’re right. Sorry about that!

Has emailing Support worked for anyone? I emailed support@trakt.tv and it bounced.

We’re sorry, but your email message to [“support@trakt.tv”] (titled Data export) didn’t work.
There was an unrecognized error while processing your email and it wasn’t posted.
