I’m seeing the error in the app (SeriesGuide) but the underlying error is 521 from the API. When I then use the browser to check if it worked, I mostly get the 521, too.
That’s not surprising thanks for looking into it.

First I got a 500 error, now it’s a 502
Followed by a 524, then a 521 now a 502 again
A backend service rebooted. It should stabilize in a few hours.
Running stable since about 11pm cest yesterday
Okay, so I’m not the only one with problems. Beta app is also super slow to the point where I just used the mobile website because the app took too long.
Got a couple of these error messages on the website the last days and two in the last hour or so.

Overall 521 errors have decreased, but do crop up at all/random times of day.
Dashboard is slow loading esp. Up next to watch and Last 30 days at a glance.
Reset Browser Data sometimes hangs as well (I have to reset almost daily).
Windows 10 with Edge Chromium all up to date.
For me it increased over the last days/weeks.
Right now it’s not loading Up Next on Safari iOS14, the beta app does only load half the stuff … if even. And that’s now multiple times a day.
I have to agree. It’s been two months since I opened this issue and have seen virtually no improvement. It’s still an off and on issue that I run into several times a day.
I love this site, but this has been an epic failure to resolve.
It’s impossible to use the site for 15 minutes straight without hitting at least once a 521, 524 or 502 error. No matter what time of the day I try. And it’s been 2 months already without any improvement (if anything, it’s getting worse in the last few days).
I love Trakt, I use it a lot. But no matter how wonderful something is, it’s not worth it if half of the time you can’t even use it. At this point, the only reason I keep putting up with the continuous errors is because there isn’t any alternative which offers what Trakt does, they’re not even close.
I really really really hope they can fix the servers soon-ish. Not feeling too optimistic about it though…
I have to agree here. Trakt is wonderful … if it’s running. And lately it’s a pain in the buttocks on a daily basis.
I don’t know anything about this stuff but maybe change the host provider? It’s almost unbearable at this point
Yeah, I’ll add to this as well. I’ve had this problem off & on for years (things like endless caching your data loops and site server errors), but in the last few days it’s been significantly worse and I’ve basically been unable to do anything on the site.
Yes, the infinite caching I find particularly disturbing lately. It seems to leave you with temporary corrupt data about your collection and watch history. Icon-checkboxes (especially Dashboard) go blank until the next successful caching process if you’re lucky enough that is.
Yeah, I guess I spoke too soon about things being better overall. The site has been all but unusable for me this afternoon.

We’ll have a more formal update next week with details on what we’ve implemented so far, and what we’re working on to fix the performance issues. I wish it was a simple fix like moving hosting providers, but it is way more complex than that with many services working together behind the scenes.
Right now, we’re adding some more database indexing with the goal to speed up certain functions related to your watched history. It’s take a long time to do this type of maintenance and while it doesn’t bring down the database completely, it definitely slows it down until the process is completed.
I’ll post a link next week with the detailed breakdown. We’re more frustrated that you all are, and we’re working daily and it’s our top priority to fix this.
I really appreciate all your effort. I love what you created over the years, Trakt has become a part of my everyday life. Right now it’s just really hard to love it, no offense. Looking forward to the fixes, thanks for taking the time to reply on all of us ranting
Just chiming in to echo comments. Today seems to have been particularly bad for getting 521 errors.
Glad to hear you’re working on fixes, though, @justin, as I love Trakt and use it on a daily basis.
This weekend was especially hard to use the site. Also I had constantly problems using the page from ~18:00-20:00 GMT+1 over the last two months.
I’m really looking forward to the fixes
please fix this guys, I get constant bad gateways
