Host Errors

Can’t really pinpoint it exactly but either since the database update or the recent app update it has gotten even worse.

EDIT: If I switch apps right after rating and immediately switch back to the trackt app, this error message appears, dunno if it helps though

I just pushed an update that should improve ratings, please let me know if it’s working better now. This was affecting all aspects of Trakt when you rate or unrated an item.

Ok great! Let me know if it gets worse again, but I’m pretty sure this change will keep it fast. I was able to move some processing to another task, so the ratings call can complete faster.

@justin Don’t want to be a bother as I know you are busy, but is there any update on the archived forums being down?

I myself has not been getting any upload problems on rating. I’m curious to why some are and some (like myself) are getting great results.

Old forums archive should work again. Sorry for the delay on fixing that.

I don’t stay up late at night very often, but it happens from time to time and almost every such time I get this:

This happens mostly during 00:00 - 02:00 GMT
It doesn’t last for two hours, but that’s the time frame when I constantly see this error. Is there some scheduled maintenance happening every night or something?

That is right around the time when most Americans start watching TV in the early evening, probably the time where there is the largest load on the trakt servers.

I really appreciate what Trakt.tv does, but the performance issues are really hurting my faith in the platform. I’ve been a VIP member for a while now and I keep hearing, “we are working on it”. Maybe its time to start hosting with AWS or something else and scale up. Also if you need a DBA get ahold of me and I can take a look under the hood to see what’s holding things up.

Been getting a lot of 502 errors (a refresh or two clears it up often). Anyone else?

The 502 are typically caused by a sudden increase in traffic and it gets some errors until it auto scales and adds additional servers in. We made some configuration updates today and are gathering stats to try and get rid of the errors.

Same here. Zapier also disabled my automations that run on Trakt RSS feeds (due to high amount of host errors). Can’t switch them back on at all.

Same problem here since yesterday afternoon. In addition, I receive many regular error messages from Zapier (Trakt.tv RSS). Is the problem identified? Is a resolution time known?

I had problems yesterday too, but luckily, the app was fine!

For information purposes, I’m having error again too.
