I like to watch TV shows once all episodes of a season are available. Unfortunately Trakt more and more does not list episodes that haven’t been aired yet at all. This means one has no idea how many episodes a season is going to have and when the last one has been aired. Of course one can always head over to TVDB to see how many episodes a season will have, but I feel this entirely defeats the purpose of Trakt.
It would be great If Trakt would list all episodes of a season even if they don’t all have titles or air dates yet. Or alternatively indicate how many episodes a running season is going to have in the season overview of a show.
We don’t have the data to reliably know that. In general, TMDB and TVDB add episodes as the season goes along and not all at once. The details and air dates are filled in during the season typically since things can force episodes to be shuffled around. I also wish we could do what you’re saying, but unfortunately it’s not reliable.
I just checked six different shows I’m tracking that don’t have the full list of episodes on Trakt (and they’re not exactly obscure shows). They all have the full number up on TVDB, almost all of them even with air dates. As I said, I wouldn’t even need the air date, just the expected number of episodes would be a big help.
Have you checked to see what database they are using?
It might be up to date on TVDb but Trakt might be using TMDb.
You need to check.
If they are using TMDb and are not up to date you could add them to bring them up to date, and Trakt would then update.
Yeah, I was kinda hoping to use Trakt to help me track show, not make me go find and add them to a database myself.
On a side note, this is a fairly recent phenomenon on this scale where Trakt just won’t list episodes that haven’t been aired yet. I rarely encountered this a year ago.
According to TMDB, the episodes aren’t official until there is a title + air date. TVDB might have different (or no) rules about that, which could be why all episodes are added.
Unless someone adds them then you ain’t gonna get them
As Trakt switches more to TMDb then this might happen more and more as they don’t have the same rules as TVDb.
Trakt, TMDb and TVDb are only as good as people want to make them.
