I just had a question about character images. I read they were pulled from TheTVDB, but on almost every TV Show on Trakt, only some character images show, while other actors just have their regular image showing. An example with Better Call Saul, where both Michael Mando and Giancarlo Esposito have their regular actor images showing, while other have their character images. What’s the cause of this?
The actor profile images are taken from Tmdb, These pictures are added by the public, and they have a voting system which automatically selects the highest voted image for each actor, for this particular show Better Call Saul, it seems the posters/fanart have been locked on trakt (not sure why), hence why you will see some variation in images here Better Call Saul (TV Series 2015-2022) — The Movie Database (TMDB)

Character pictures used to come from TVDB. However, once the page is migrated to TMDB, we have no way of updating those anymore, that’s why some characters have them and some don’t (the images we have were probably the ones TVDB had when we migrated the page, the ones added after that, weren’t imported). TMDB doesn’t have that data and we can’t manually update them here, we can only remove them, when people report.
