Hello! With the most recent update it seems like the hide from show progress feature has been removed and now only presents the option to drop. I can sense that this is part of streamlining to easily hide shows from continue watching and the calendar.
I would like to propose bringing back the functionality of at least hiding from continue watching and leaving the option available to remain on the calendar. There’s value I find with examples like current running late night television where I might not be watching every night but I do look forward to seeing upcoming guests on the calendar and can check in from the calendar but I don’t need to see ~1000 unwatched episodes in my continue watching because I’m not tuning in to each one religiously.
I tend to hide things from Progress because the show and/or next episode is not on the current streaming site I’m using… But my dropped shows always tend to be added back later in order to searched for on another/same streaming service at a later time.
For your the first user case: would you be okay if shows that are daily or weekly shows were automatically just showing you the last aired episode in the Continue Watching but gave you notifications for each new episode? All of this without marking anything as dropped or hidden.
For the second use case: I think this would also be a good case for something a bit different than dropping or hiding… I’m seeing this as a “paused” feature that would let you hide it either for a short time or until some conditions are met.
Currently, what you can do is add the show to your watchlist first, then drop it. You can configure notifications (V2) to notify you when something in your watchlist is available on your favorite streaming service. It is not perfect, but it kinda works. The goal for V3 would be to make this a lot easier and more intuitive.
Hey, thanks for responding. I suppose that’s a potential solution, but I have some reservations. When a period of time passes without me checking in, I’m suspecting that my continue watching will grow. Perhaps resulting in a list that’s cluttered and increasing the cognitive load as a casual viewer.
The calendar works well as a TV guide for browsing and remaining informed, whereas I find my continue watching as a place that’s focused and prioritized for deeper viewing. Curious if there’s something that’s technically feasible but I’ve been shuffling in and out between dropping, picking back up the show again in a search, and cycling through and wanted to pitch in those thoughts.
Might be a good idea but how do I open the watch list when I cant use any of trakt what I have been playing for for many years and I can’t help help thinking they are doing this on purpose
I don’t think you realize how much I stream. I watched episodes from 100+ shows last month… and 50+ movies.
My watchlist is used to keep track of what I WANT to watch… Not what I’m already watching.
Progress is supposed to be used for what I need to continue watching. (Although I do sometimes wish that UNAIRED episodes would be included.)
PAUSING is a nice idea… But I most likely would not use it unless it has easy access like Hide/Dropped does.
Thankfully, Dropping currently seems to be working the same as Hide. (At least to me, but I don’t use the Calendar that much because I watch too many shows.)
And my system currently works for me since one of my issues is that the streaming filters SAYS something is available on a Streaming Site when it is not. So Automatically adding the site back would not actually do anything to help.
I think my original response was just supposed a reminder that the shows should be able to be added back later if it’s causing issues with the Calendar… But I have been informed before that I am not always the best at explaining my thoughts.
