I mean, plextraktsync isn’t perfect either. Scrobbling issues and the current watchlist issues (due to plex api changes) make it unusable for me. May as well stick it out and let this beta develop.
That’s what I’ve decided too. I honestly just want bidirectional sync.
Exactly, it’s still in beta, so I’ll take another look at it after some time. I’m sure it will work well in the stable release. As for plextraktsync and the watchlist: in the latest version the issue should be fixed, but I haven’t had the chance to test it yet.
I see that too. I had this weird issues where the cron would stop working after a while, so I stopped the container for now and just using Plex sync for the time being. Also does plextraktsync support bidirectional watchlist sync?
Yes it does. I think the most recent release fixed it. I haven’t spun it up in months because when it works it works but it’s been breaking often recently with all these Trakt API changes (maybe by design, who knows).
Hi.
New test done today and it seems it is working just fine from my side.
Thanks Justin for you amazing work !
I’m having an issue with Trakt where I always get the following error message when I am using the Plex-Sync-Service:
“No Plex libraries found! Please add at least 1 library to your Plex media server and also verify you have remote access enabled.”
However, I already have multiple libraries set up on my Plex Media Server, and remote access is enabled.
Somebody know how to fix this?
Regards // Samuel
I’ll ask the obvious, when you connect to PLEX server via PLEX Sync, I take it you select the user and also tick the boxes of the libraries you want to sync, A few people did forget this step.
Make sure connected and Owned are ticked, select user, scroll to tick libraries, scroll to click “Save Settings”
I’d bet most of us did that yet after one sync we still see that red banner telling us to do the same thing again and no syncing taking place after the first one (if any happen at all).
Thanks for reply! Yeah I have selected my user and also ticked the boxes of the libraries I want to sync. And also pressed “Save Settings”. Though the error still shows. My library still seems to be able to sync, but the error is always there.
ah, I get you now, you are talking about this annoying Banner.
Yeah, it’s freaking annoying and makes me think something is wrong with myset, ![]()
@Justin, why do we keep seeing this warning, every single time we visit the page?
Is it necessary?
“No, it’s this banner that always shows. Really annoying. The one you screenshot, I also get, but it disappears when I click ‘Save Settings’. However, the one I’m talking about is always there.” ^^
I think the problem might be that I have two servers on my Plex account, and on one of them I’m having trouble changing the port to ‘32400’. Because of that, I can’t see any libraries from that server (although in the beginning I actually could). So maybe the banner is only showing for that server, while the one I can sync from is working fine. Trakt does find some of my libraries, just not the ones from the other server, which is why the banner is showing. ^^
ah, same here mate, I had issues setting up both of my plex servers, I have one for movies and the other for TV shows.
Plex also says port 32401 is also acceptable and I asked Justin to open port 32401 and he already opened the default port 32400. So go ahead and set one of your PLEX servers to port 32401 in your router and the other server to port 32400.
See if this works!
I will spend some time this week working on bug fixes, improved messaging, and error handling. Monday was a US holiday, so I am getting caught up and starting my week.
Starting today, I have relaxed the error handling to still queue up hourly syncs even if we detect a server isn’t able to connect properly. Next, I will improve the error detection to look over a 24 hour period before alerting you about a potential problem. This should allow temporary connection issues to just fix themselves (i.e. your internet goes down for a few hours).
Yes, roughly every hour. The above fix might restore this for you if we were detecting connection errors.
I will take a closer look, but my guess is the watched timestamp has a difference in “seconds” which is why it isn’t being detected as a duplicate play. Seems like a bug with our comparison logic there. But also seems like a bug that it would be re-syncing all the plays unless you are specifically asking it to perform a full sync?
Not by design on our side. We’d need to see more specific info from the dev if they are seeing API issues.
Please see my initial note, that error means something failed when connecting with your server. Could be your server is down, internet issues, etc. You might still see the error, but I adjusted things to still try every hour. If it’s able to work again on its own, the error will automatically be cleared out.
@justin Just curious, if we have really large plex libraries, will we see issues with hourly syncs? (assuming they might overlap)
If a sync is already running, it will skip queuing it up again. I can look into your library specifically to see how large it is and get some timing around it. The initial sync might take a while but the ongoing syncs should be quicker.
Thanks Justin. Tried it again today but still no automatic syncing. However compared to others I do not have issues with not being able to connect to Plex servers.
This still seems to occur daily for me. I could understand one of my servers maybe (the one that isn’t on port 32400 but is accessible through 8443) but I reconfigured both the others to be on 32400 to use this.
- Not a single resync has occurred for me. Ever. Unless I manually trigger it and even that’s iffy whether it does.
- If for some reason Trakt can’t connect, Lord knows why seeing as I have zero issues ever connecting to my server, they’re always running, they’re on high-speed networks, they show up in the list here, it sees the folders fine, then the automatic retry every hour for sure isn’t functioning as intended. Well not for me and I dare so not for quite a few others.
Yeah, You’ll not get a sync when you use two devices accessing the same port, this is why Justin opened up the other plex port 32401.
Make one of your Plex servers use port 32401 and the other on port 32400, This works for Both my Plex servers.
@justin You might want to add a bit of information to the PLEX Sync setup page in case users with multiple servers run into issues from both devices trying to use the same port. A short note suggesting that one server use port 32400 and the other use 32401 or whatever other ports are open, could help prevent conflicts and you wasting your time constantly having to explain.
