This might be personal preference but I find the black gradient on items in a list that have notes covers too much of the image, and makes the item image and page look too dark overall. And it doesn’t look like it needs to go that far up the image to help with contrast for the ‘READ NOTES’ text.
I’ve attached a couple of images as an example - one of a list without notes and one with notes.
Would it be possible to reduce the height of the gradient on the image?
Yeah, I like the sound of that. I like seeing the full unadulterated poster in lists, so moving it out the way and getting rid of the gradient would work for me.
Still thinking about this. I’m working on a new general notes feature (I.e. you can save a private note on a movie, show, etc) and that icon is in the top left. I might need to keep list item notes as is to keep them separated more clearly.
That sounds cool and definitely something I’d also use. It looks like you’re pretty much out of room at the bottom of the poster, so maybe you could have a general notes icon on the top left and a list items note icon on the top right. I don’t really have a strong opinion either way though, outside of getting rid of the gradient.
A lot of the lists I generate have the release date and IMDb rating in the list item notes. I’ve thought before that being able to display the list item note below the two lines of text already below the poster and therefore always have them visible would be very useful. So I wouldn’t have to hover over the label to see the text. But I’m sure there’d be a ton of challenges with that around page length and long notes.
