Revert the change - bring back classic Trakt

Why do you say that? I use it on my iPad

I mean on Android in my case. I did manually install v2 on that using an alternative store.

But, as soon as I use update all apps on in the Play Store, it also updates Trakt to v3, forcing me to again install v2 manually. Very annoying. I have auto-updates turned off btw, but that doesn’t stop it from updating when you do update all apps.

Cancelled my VIP, it’s clear they are not listening and not communicating back to people. The TV shows calendar in the old version of the desktop site is now also not showing items anymore.

New UI is not made to make your live easier but the Netflix way to keep you longer on the platform. Going to check out some self-hosted services because the progress tracking itself is less important for me since plex does a decent job in syncing that.

Best option for now seems Yamtrack combined with the TVMaze data source

The calendar is working on my end.

Try going to settings then the advanced tab and see if these help

Love when you go on to the page of a film you’ve seen, and the biggest button on the screen is to remove all the plays, rather than to add another play. Who has come up with this stuff?

It shouldn’t do that in google play, for me when i click to update all, it comes up with a box saying something like “auto update has been disabled for trakt, are you sure you want to update?” and if you click cancel, it will igore updating that.

If this isn’t an option for you, you can use an app like apktool-m to resign an apk, this way it will have a different signature than google plays, and shouldn’t be able to update that app regardless.

Better a permanent “:warning: Couldn’t update” error in the list of available updates than being forced into the V3 app redesign, I guess.

(But yeah, I’ve run into this following… other reasons to have an app with the same package name but a different signature. You learn to live with it. It’s too bad actually changing the package name of an APK is so often non-trivial.)

When I was on Android, I used Aurora Store instead of the Google Play Store. Aurora Store allows you to completely hide apps from the updates tab so that you don’t accidentally update it

Oh my GOD I clicked the NEW button on my browser. I stayed on it for 2 minutes and reverted back.

And, by extension, this is yet another example of the attempt to stop people from using apps/services on their computers, a way to push PC users away. Where the ‘desktop version’ suddenly become this hideous, awful ‘mobile app’ thing.

I made the mistake of updating the app and my first indication of an issue was… THE NEW RATING system? We have fewer hearts? WHY? The rating system, the original, is FINE.

This situation is not exclusive to trakt. Companies are getting lazy and they don’t want to support two app versions (mobile and desktop) and if a site/app works so well, they change stuff just to change it. Enshittification at play. Something has to be done. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Like many others, if that new UI becomes permanent, I will stop using this site. Which, that would suck, because I like this site.

Thanks for the tip.

FYI, 233 is the last good version’s code (2.2.1 released on Dec 16)

Yeah the new UI does not sit well with me. Please rethink the UI change. It hurts my eyes.

I am a daily user of Trakt on my iPad. Since v3 was introduced , I have kept two tabs open on my Chrome browser, one for v2 and one for v3 and I will occasionally open the iPad app as well. I was hoping by doing this, I would get used to v3 (or the app) over time. I realize that there are many improvements coming to the new versions but I still find that v2 is much more intuitive and easier to navigate than the other options. Although I know the request lands on deaf ears, my vote is to keep v2 alive!

Thank god this is still accessible. Was about to cancel my VIP subscription until I came across this comment.

  • F 5 STAR system
  • Why is my history now a horizontal scroll
  • Why on earth does it takes 20 seconds to remove something from history when it took 1 second pre update
  • And why does my history tab simply gives a long error code

All this on the android app of 5mins of usage, what garbage interface interactions will I encounter when I use it more.

I pray that more people will give bad reviews on the phone app stores.

what’s bugging me most is not the confused look and feel, but missing functionality – like when on a 5th season, simply pressing on “seasons” show all of them. now i have to go to show (one tiny link) and then navigate past reviews and extras (and how can that hierarchically be higher priority than seasons) to find seasons part… ridiculous.

Almost a month has passed since my initial comment on the subject. Since then, there’s been no reply to this thread by the devs.

It’s been argued a few times, both in the forums and Reddit, that it’s a small team and it’s not possible to answer everything. Even if that’s the case, not even writing 1 message (to close threads) says a lot. A single message could funnel users onto a central hub of information with answers, that might not fulfill what’s been asked, but at least acknowledges the users’ concerns and it’s essentially saying “We hear you, we value you, here’s our stance and our reasons”. Instead, we’re getting silence. And I don’t know about others, but I’d much rather have someone telling me “No” and why, than nothing. It’s a matter of respect.

Look, if Trakt had kept the same UI/UX and raised the price, I’d have payed; if we had been given confirmation that v2 would remain until v3 had all existing features, I’d have payed (price hike included); if we had been given a discount while having only v3, I’d have payed. In all 3 cases, I’d have felt respected, because I understand that companies sometimes need to adapt, but giving us less for more is not that. And the silence only contributes to the feeling of “They don’t care”.

Because of that, I’ve now—like many others—officially cancelled my VIP (5th year) subscription.

They are expecting to pay double. It will only work when number of VIPs stay above 50%. But the site is useless right now.

Hi everyone,

We’re going to close this thread now.

There’s no need to revert anything or “bring back” something that hasn’t disappeared. Trakt v2 is still available and will remain accessible until Trakt v3 reaches feature parity on web.

We know some of you prefer v2 today, and that’s completely fine. The goal is not to remove workflows before v3 can properly support them. Feature parity on web remains the milestone before any permanent switch.

If you prefer alternative mobile experiences in the meantime, we recommend Rippple on iOS and Showly on Android, both are built on top of Trakt platform.

Thanks to everyone who shared feedback.
We’ve read it, and it continues to inform what we prioritize next.
