Just started to use the calendar feature of Trakt properly. Have noticed that today with Guardians of the Galaxy being released on 3rd may 2023 (Today) in the UK but I’m being shown the US release date (Friday 5th) on my calendar.
I have tried the filter options by selecting countries but I think it’s more related to the Metadata being used from IMDB for the actual pages. Has anyone else figured out anything for a UK calendar for movie release dates?
I know it doesnt help you, but Please dont miscredit the wrong provider, trakt dont use Any info from IMdB except for manually adding score. All metadata are from tmdb. And im sorry im a user not a tech spec. So i cant give you a better ansver, sorry best regards steffe
And question back. Where do you see release date uk may 3??? I dont see Any info on release uk may3 i see italy and France but most other say may 5. Sorry for this question
Why are you talking about imdb… Trakt takes data from TMDb.
May 5th is added on TMDb. Release dates are sometimes added very early! If you have different info, feel free to correct it!
But I don’t know if Trakt shows local release dates, I think it defaults to the first non pre-miere/limited release date in US. Countries are only used for showing watch now links. Otherwise I would see May 3rd, because I’m from NL.
Trakt will show local times based on user preference, but sometimes show dates based on server time (most commonly in Calendar view).
Usually. If a show is incumbent to premier first on a station outside of the US, then it seems they default to those release dates even if the US starts getting it first (His Dark Materials began coming out a week early on HBO Max but TMDb, and by proxy Trakt, continued to use the BBC dates).
We use the release date from the original country for the show or movie. You can view all release dates by clicking that link on the summary page.
All this data is heavily cached which is why the calendar doesn’t use country specific release dates. We still adjust the date and time to your own local time however.
