Perhaps their new-signup rate dropped straight into the toilet when they doubled the price, so they’re going to try their luck with paying users?
I don’t see how it is anything short of a bait-and-switch, given the offer:
Not one renewal was grandfathered. Not one. This is the literal definition of a bate-and-switch.
We aren’t even talking “We grandfathered people a decade ago, it isn’t sustainable anymore”, or even a “look the service is fundamentally different and costs way more to provide”.
This is exactly it for me. I don’t think I use any VIP features.
I like supporting companies that provide value to me, or make my life less annoying. I’m fortunate enough to be in a position in life where I can spend a few dollars, so it’s a win-win if companies stick around and their staff get to eat.
I’m 8 years into Trakt.tv. I barely even watch TV at this point.
This is the “bridge too far” for me. An extra $2.50/month isn’t even on my radar. And I realize how lucky I am to type that, certainly many people are not in this position.
It really isn’t about the money, I just don’t like supporting dishonest actors. In fact, I think I’ll go donate $60 to a local charity to celebrate because it really isn’t about the money, and there are hungry people out there who will put it to good use.
Thanks for all the
