It’s crazy to see the decision makers at Trakt go back on their word to grandfathered/legacy subscribers just a couple months after the last announcement that caused mayhem and mass cancellations over price increases.
I am not even angry, just disappointed. How can they not see how this will hurt them in the long run? If the goal is to raise more money and get more subscribers, there are so many better ways of achieving that without screwing your already loyal userbase.
What a shame. @justin I truly urge you to listen to your community and seriously reconsider this. The community engagement and feedback is immeasurably important.
i have used this it is awful, the app in iOS is more buggy than windows SE. Most of the times you do not get the shows or refresh or you mark as watch and next is gone. Yes there are alternatives but TV Time is one of the worst
I do not remember the promise about keepint the prices steady so my bad on that. You have a valid point cause who says that in two years it will not go to 100$.
As far as migration i don’t know how much data you have or how and which way you use trakt but for me i really do not want to spend even those 30 minutes.
Tried to report that post as inappropriate, but got an immediate (automatic?) reply that the post has been reported before and is already reviewed and considered appropriate…
You’re not the only one getting the HTTP Error 500 on the OG VIP promo link. I’m getting it here and confirmed it elsewhere using http.app. So “nothing changes”, then oh sorry price hike anyway… but we’ll give you a short-term discount over here… then it seems to be one of the few pages on the site that doesn’t work?
I became a VIP back then to support the website because I like the service, and 30 bucks is affordable to show support. If it goes up to 60 a year, I will cancel for sure. At this price, I have to seriously consider what I’m paying for the features since it’s not just about showing support now. And the current features don’t seem worthy of 60 bucks.
As others pointed out already, this price increase is ridiculous and feels just like a cashgrab before shutting down the entire thing.
Best way to go is probably self-hosting. MediaTracker, which was also posted here, seems almost abandoned.
After researching a bit, Yamtrack looks amazing and is actively developed. It can even track manga, comics, games and books. It also is able to import from trakt.
This price increase is not normal! This has nothing to do with maintaining the platform! This is just trying to grab a lot of cash!
30,- is a very good price for the service delivered! Its not a streaming service for gods sake! Its just a register of what I have watched and collected!
Reading the other comments this can become the end of the platform.. Shame to see greed kill such a nice project!
9th year renewed just this february. Apparently this will be my last, I like the service - but an unjustified 100% price increase with no new features?!?
No Thx - was fun while it lasted.
Funny - canceling will lose me staying on my current pricing plan - guess you forgot to edit that out:
It’s okay to complain, but remember, we are not people to them just numbers in a table.
Thank you for pointing out alternatives, especially those to host yourself.
Thanks to this, I will spend the time after the just canceled subscription to test alternatives.
This is what annoys me, I was happy to stay OG Vip forever, but now I’ll cancel due to 15->60 jump is insane for my yearly couple advanced filter searches. Justin said prices will be grandfathered in less than a year ago.
Rarely do I see such a dumb business move of 2x->4x price increase as a thank you for your support. Is it a late April fool’s joke cause the og promo page is also giving 500 for hours now as it just crashes. I promoted Trakt over the years to many, but now eh.
13…thirteen whole years I’ve been supporting as a VIP, and now you want FOUR times more money? I’m happy for price to increase with inflation, cost of living etc. but that is not 400%. Sorry but you’ve just completely killed your company, you will for sure go bankrupt with this change.
