What happened to our feedback shaping priorities?

The impression given was that the new Trakt would be beta until all of the missing features were added back. It was specifically stated that our dismay and feedback was shaping your priorities. None of this has happened, and now the beta has ended, with new Trakt replacing old Trakt for real. Even now, despite claims that classic would be supported, it has become one step harder to use and locate. Clicking on the site logo, even when using classic, now just redirects back to the new version.

In the post I attached to this, it was stated that “new Trakt should not feel like a step back” - well it does. A huge one. The new site is not what loyal and longtime Trakt users want. This feels like a spit in the face after all that has been said these past few months.

I saw on Reddit that Kevin responded to someone about the library features being missing, and he justified it by saying some users don’t use the feature correctly (they just use it like a list). All I can say is so what? Let them. Lots of people (myself included) use it as intended. And no, just having a list of owned content is not even nearly the same thing. The library that exists on classic Trakt has lots of added meta data, and filters give us the ability to filter between owned and not owned content in othwr areas of the site. If it’s just a list (even with tags) then we have lost those filtering options.

I also saw a response about the missing progress page, which many of us use and love for the details information about what we are watching. Kevin argued that the progress page is too impactful on performance to keep all these features. This is a perfect example of how we are not being listened to, and how the people running Trakt are completely out of touch with what we want. Yes, better performance is always welcome, but loyal Trakt users would never want to sacrifice features for performance. We are willing to have slightly worse performance if it means having more stats and features. Trakt has never been as smooth and well-performing as some alternative sites, but the sheer amount of features is what has kept so many of us here rather than moving elsewhere. When you remove these features and extra stats, you remove the reason we have remained loyal to Trakt as opposed to other services.

I genuinely thought we were getting somewhere after the last time this all blew up. I was very critical, but Kevin’s response gave me hope. It sounded good. Yet now it feels like that response was all just empty words.

Disappointment cannot even begin to describe how I feel.
