Yeah and who is @marius? He’s not listed anywhere as an employee so he has no right to even speak for Trakt as he could be absolutely any random person off the street.
So that’s how lightly you take breaching your own T&C? Just wave it off as an oversight? You say thank you as if someone pointed out a bug.
How did it happen? Were you not aware of the 30 days clause?
Is a random post on a forum that many users do not attend sufficient notice?
(Some people still did not receive an email about the price change and might thus not be bound by it?)
Silence from on high again while they try to spin things their direction… Come on @justin, explain dishonouring grandfathered prices and who in heck Marius is! And why are these random people able to announce such big changes when YOU are a cofounder and always announced them before now. Have they kicked you to the curb?
And those that did receive the email, like me, didn’t get a correction email. My email tells me changes go into effect today May 20. Something is seriously going wrong.
What a terrible way of conducting business. Glad I cancelled. Trakt staff cannot be trusted ever again to keep their promises or agreements. They can’t even be bothered to follow their own ToS without being hassled…

And when we finally get a response after a week this is it? Yea they clearly don’t give a f… Wow… It’s getting more and more disappointing!
I never said I wasn’t cancelling. One account is done and everything is getting moved to Simkl, then the account data will be deleted, which is a shame as I’d lots of lists that people were using. My second account (this one) will be next, unless they wise up and get their act together (more chance of finding water in an arid desert!)
My mistake, I thought the reply was to the comment immediately above his—which is from a user that was very vocal about the price change not affecting them.
No, it was about pointing out their incompetence over their own terms, the fact they breached them. I think they hoped no one would notice but I wasn’t about to let it go as it broke their agreements with us. The fact that the forum is the only place the dates of price change have been altered still stinks of breach as they haven’t emailed anyone the change so the 30 days notice should only begin once everyone is officially notified.
That’s one of the hardest parts of all this. People like us who are upset that are nuking their lists. I have moved everything I use with Kometa over to MDBList for a modest Patreon subscription but I will keep my well liked list until my sub here expires.
I want to hear something more official from @justin and/or @sean and I want to get a detailed explanation who this @marius person is…
My subscription expires next month…and I do not plan to renew unless I can keep my $30/year (supposed grandfathered price) price.
Come on @justin! Grandfathered price honouring you promised, Marius explanation needed and updated price change notice MUST be sent to everyone affected and technically the 30 days notice needs to begin from the date of the new email, otherwise it still constitutes a breach terms.
@justin your silence is deafening here. If you want to start earning trust back, forget new features and answer the questions everyone is asking. Stop breaking your own terms (until everyone is made aware of the date changes for pricing and given the proper full 30 days, it’s still against your own terms and is a possible legal challenge), explain YOURSELF why you broke your grandfathered price guarantee, and tell us who this random Marius person is who feels he has a right to speak on your behalf even though he’s not listed anywhere as an employee so has no right to weigh in.
Add to that, @raluca no longer appears on the About page as an employee, so that completely invalidates her post about the price change in the first place! Therefore we shouldn’t accept it at all unless @justin or @sean officially announce it as co-founders and email all affected subscribers with full 30 days notice. A past employee cannot change terms of contract
Yeah, and she Trakt profile has gone from “DIRECTOR” to a simple “VIP” user.
Yeah, so that statement/post about price increases is unenforceable, completely null and void and we are all entitled to keep our grandfathered prices
@justin
I wouldn’t exactly say it’s unenforceable — it is. This wasn’t a decision she made on her own (I hope), and when she communicated it, she was still an employee at Trakt (assuming she truly isn’t anymore).
In any case, it is highly unprofessional to leave the communication of such a disastrous change — which resulted in hundreds of cancellations — to someone who was about to leave just a few days later (unless it was a sudden termination).
Extremely unprofessional and exactly where Trakt is headed. However, no matter how many where behind the decision, she was at the forefront (ie the one to announce it) and we are not obligated to accept new terms proposed by a former employee
