šŸ’¬ New Trakt Feedback

When I click upcoming schedule next to my shows, why do I need a floating calendar top left when the main page also shows the date of the shows? The floating calendar is taking up unnecessary

I’ve also previously hidden shows. They’re appearing in my upcoming schedule. Why? How do I hide them again? I can’t see an option to. This is also applicable to start watching

The use of a tick next to my next episode to watch is very confusing to me. My brain interprets a tick something as completed. Therefore, I’m inferring I’ve watched it. But a cross suggests otherwise.

Where is progress? And I’ve recently found and started to use upcoming to show me new shows I wasn’t aware of, or series restarting. I can’t find those either.

horizontal scrolling is dreadful. It seems never ending.

on the movies tab, it has a continue watching. What’s this for? Will it show sequels I may not have been aware of but I’ve watched something previous I’m the series? For example, I’ve watched alien, will it suggested aliens alien3 etc?

I’ve only tried the site for about 15 mins so these are rudimentary pieces of feedback. I’m not a hardcore user and don’t use lists etc. I mainly track what I’ve watched and what’s upcoming and that feels clunky in the new website

Where is my history?

The new UI is god awful. Cluttered and an eye sore. All the settings have been simplified or removed. I used to be able to customise the extent of spoilers and posters etc, now that’s all been done away with. Even the ratings have been dumbed down to a 5 star rating system rather than 10 points system.

What I’ve loved about trakt for the past 10+ years of using it is that it has so many advanced features and pieces of data. Other platforms have never been able to compare, always having much more simplified data on display and settings to choose from. With this change, the things I love most about Trakt are being stripped away from me. This is butchery of a service I’ve cherished for a decade and gone out of my way to recommend to literally everyone I know. I don’t know if I can even continue using the site if this is going to be how it is going forward. I’m genuinely so upset by the direction this is moving in. The price raise was a pain, but I’d have probably kept paying because I loved Trakt. But if I’m going to be using a watered down version, then I won’t love Trakt anymore.

We can’t even rate seasons anymore. Only episodes and shows. The season ratings are gone. I don’t mind going from a numbered rating system to a star rating system, but keeping it 10 points is a must. Without half-stars as rating options, you are quite literally butchering your rating system and spitting in the face of long term users.

Another thing. If I search a show, I have to click on it to see if I’ve seen it already. The old site gives me a nice tick bottom left to indicate I’ve watched it. No extra clicks.

This is forcing extra pages to load unnecessary for the user and servers

Trakt member for 14 years, most of those as VIP. I even invested many hours of my life doing some free work for Justin when Trakt transitioned from v1 to v2 - such was my love of this product. This is literally a product I have invested decades of my life in and used on a daily basis.

Been watching in the background last couple of months feeling a growing degree of distaste with how the current Trakt Team has been treating some of their most loyal users - I had been thinking about leaving for a while, my VIP expires in May, I thought I would stick around until then and see how things go. With this recent announcement I have just had enough.

Think you should spend a bit of time reflecting on why so many of your most loyal users are so angry and frustrated and disengaged and moving on to other services.

So, so disappointed and will be sad to leave.

I cancelled my renewal of VIP today. This is a step too far. I have been fine with working through other stuff over the years, but this is totally unusable to my needs.

Ticks lack cohesion above they indicate not watched. Below, they indicate watched

This is so confusing

Another thing, coz I’m trying to use the site. If I click a user in this thread, look at their profile, it defaults to this new trakt. Why not the old one if this is a lite testing phase?

I’m not trying to find faults, just offering feedback

It may not be the right thread but seeing that the new Android app and the new Trakt are virtually the same, and also seem very similar in functionality, I’m posting it here anyway.

The new Android beta just doesn’t do it for me. It looks almost exactly like Trakt Lite, which I never use because I simply don’t like the way it looks.

I really don’t like the horizontal scrolling under ā€˜Continue watching’, i want to see vertical items without having to click on them first.

I can’t go without my Upcoming Schedule calendar. I use it daily. The Upcoming Schedule in the new app is not functioning like a calendar and doesn’t feel very user friendly. I want to be able to scroll vertically. And I’d like to see a calendar format almost exactly like it is in the current Android app, sorted by date and not: airing ā€˜in x days’.

I also dislike the fact that there’s almost no header anymore. I like the fact that your header image from the desktop site’s also visible on the Android app.

I much prefer the look and feel of the current Android app. Same goes for the mobile and especially the desktop website.

And to try to not only point out the negative. The new Android Beta app works very fast and very smooth, in that aspect it’s a lot better than the current Android app.

The latest announcement that LITE will be the new Trakt, which although I already feared was coming, still kind of baffled me. I remember the first big redesign of the Trakt website years ago, which took some getting used to but turned out to be great. I love the current website. I don’t really see if Lite has the same functionality options as the current website, it doesn’t seem that way. At least it’s not easy to find everything. And as stated before, I just don’t really like the look, especially on desktop.

I also wonder how I’m supposed to scroll sideways. I can’t grab an image and drag sideways. Lite seems pretty useless on desktop.

Overall there seems to be a decrease in functionality if you compare the current Android app and current website to the new Android Beta and new Trakt website.

This all saddens me a bit to be honest. I have absolutely loved using Trakt almost everyday for the past twelve years (8 of them being a VIP) and I was stoked when there finally was an Android app as well which I liked. Until now. Change isn’t always progress in my opinion.

WTF was that??? No seriously, thanks for the 20 mins it took me to work out I had to update my bookmark to get classic back. Could you not have just posted the link as an urgent announcement.

My eyes still burn.

I haven’t switched to lite or new trakt until now. Admin can see how many people preferred new trakt. Is it working or not.

Why does clicking the blue ā€œlistedā€ button automatically add a show to the watchlist?

After clicking it, the current list shows up on the far right side. Are you serious? Why do I have to move all the way across the screen just to add a show or a movie to my list?

Basically everything that was on the dashboard on trakt originally is something I use daily

Up Next (with ONLY the shows I am currently watching)

Calendar of upcoming movie premieres

Last 30 days summary

Recent watched history

Recent friend activity

I want all of those to remain and operate exactly as they already did. They don’t need updating. I tried the mobile app today, and absolutely hated the changes. Made the app completely useless to me. I hope the new web design isn’t going to follow those same choices.

Things shouldn’t be updated just for the sake of being updated. There should be a specific functional or performance purpose for an update, and doing so shouldn’t reduce functionality.

The new look is dogsh*t.

Can we have a VIP option for ā€œleave it alone, it’s not broken, don’t fuck with itā€

I’d happily continue to pay the extortionate new VIP price if you would just leave things alone instead of changing them for the sake of change.

Not sure if already mentioned.. Can’t go through all posts but there is a minor bug.

It’s little before 5 in the morning at my place and a page in private tab reads~

Good night

November 1st, 2025

Anything after 4 should read morning I guess.. lol

Also, after all the feedback you ignored about the rebrand and ditching the iconic logo and red branding for purple, why is the new vomit inducing site branded in orange???

Why are you asking users for feedback when you’ve completely ignored everyone for the last year. Nobody ever wanted a dumbed down trakt with less features. You charge more then turn the service into a temu version of trakt. I can’t comprehend what drives you to make your userbase to start resenting you, and too pig headed to even notice what’s going on. Why on earth would you announce something as the new standard trakt when in the same post you’ve admitted it’s not ready and missing loads of features. Nothing short of brain dead.

For me it’s important that I can re-order the items in the lists. I like some items to be more visible than others at different times. I’m not sure how it could be improved, but I can’t seem to do it yet in the new experience. Thank you!

Congratulations, you’ve somehow managed the impossible by making the infamous Digg v4 redesign look like an absolute master stroke of genius compared to whatever absolutely unnecessary counterintuitive ghastly abomination this complete and utter unmitigated disaster is.

I would provide specific feedback but honestly I’m not even sure where to begin… but here are some of my initial feelings and questions:

  • why does it look like some generic tablet app, when I’m using it on a computer with a large display?

  • why is there so much visual space wasted, it’s genuinely incredible how you’ve managed to put so little information on one screen

  • where is… everything? I know you say it’s a work in progress but like, everything is missing at the moment, where are my statistics, the check in button, the custom watched date entry, the links to Wikipedia, my notes, my recently watched items on my profile, my history, my comments, my ratings, any of my glanceable data…

  • why is my home page filled with things I literally could not care less about? Continue Watching?? why??? You’re not a streaming platform, in what circumstance would I be on my profile on my laptop and think ā€œhmmm yes, I think I’ll watch those remaining two hours of a three and a half hour film that I was last watching nine months ago right now, that’s definitely the number one reason I came to this pageā€??? Or the Start Watching showing me front and center shows that I literally haven’t thought about in over a decade??? Or the Upcoming Schedule which I have never once in my life used??? The only remotely interesting content on the new main page is what my few friends are watching, and even then that’s not the reason I loaded the site.

I know digital change is initially hard for a lot of people and most website or app or OS redesigns are negatively received until people warm up to it, but I’m afraid you’re deluded if you think that’s going to be the case here. Especially after the whole grandfathered VIP price hike fiasco has barely even finished blowing over, what’s the thinking here, you want to make a show of justifying the price increase with an entirely unnecessary total UI redesign that feels like it was thrown together by some generative AI that doesn’t understand the first thing about user experience or why and how people even use the site? The overwhelmingly negative feedback that you’re receiving for this redesign isn’t just the ā€œany change is badā€ crowd having a knee-jerk reaction to it, it’s anybody with the gift of eyesight telling you that this is objectively a terrible move. Nobody was asking for this. Nobody wanted this. Nobody likes this. Nobody will use this.

In an era where you’re already pushing loyal paying users away who had stuck with you for over a decade, where there are several new competing services vying for their defection, how on earth did you come to the conclusion that completely redesigning the web interface with the most soulless, featureless, and incomprehensibly opaque UI/UX imaginable would be what retains users? I’d suggest you have the users vote on which design they would prefer to use going forward, but listening to the userbase hasn’t exactly been a strength of trakt’s lately, has it?

Pretty sure someone will take things in their own hands and we might see ā€˜bring back old trakt interface’ userscript on greasyfork soon

So we have plenty of feedback already, I wonder if and what the Trakt team learned from it.

Logically they won’t give up on Lite but somehow I also doubt that they have the intention to move even one iota away from their already established internal roadmap.

This whole affair is a typical ā€œwe just know it better than our own customers what they really want/needā€ story, after all.
