šŸ’¬ New Trakt Feedback

That’s perfectly valid, I’m glad you and others find use in those features. I was going to say maybe my ā€œnever once in my life usedā€ was exaggeration, but thinking back, I didn’t even use the schedule back when I joined in 2011 because it was already cluttered with shows that I had either recently started and was catching up on and therefore not yet interested in when new episodes were airing and just had a post-it stuck to my wall behind my computer monitor for which days the handful of currently airing shows I was interested in were releasing. Maybe I could customise it with hiding things and/or filters but tbh I’ve never looked into it because since moving on from the post-it note I’ve had a SeriesGuide widget on my phone’s homescreen filtered to just ā€œfavourite showsā€.

In all honesty, I’ve never really used the Dashboard page on the site because very little of what’s on it is of personal relevance to me - I visit my main profile page to quickly check what I recently watched and glance at what/if I rated those items, I visit my History page for a deeper look and maybe filter it, I use the Progress page to check where the Plex scrobbler has left holes in my checkin history so I can manually fill the gaps in, and I’ve recently been using the Notes to keep note of which films I’ve seen in the cinema. I also use the search function frequently, and really like the statistics. I like looking up lists and filtering them to see which items I have or haven’t watched, but it’s always frustrated me how I can’t properly subscribe to a list, like, I know there’s a ā€˜Subscribe’ button to add someone else’s list items to my calendar but that’s not what I want, I want to add their list to my lists as a bookmark/subscribed item so that I can quickly get back to their list, especially if it’s one that is actively updated (so the Copy feature wouldn’t be suitable). I suppose I can ā€˜like’ a list and go to my profile>lists>reactions:personal lists but that feels more like a compromise workaround rather than the intention.

But yes, I agree with you that the new design is beyond awful, and I too will be sticking to the classic design for as long as I can.

I need to filter and sort my lists. And I absolutely need a ten-star rating system. Seven is the second most used rating from me.

@kcador I must be blind but how am I supposed to get to my own Library on the ā€œnewā€ website? Or even mark something as ā€œcollectedā€?

TBH this design is almost as much as a clusterfuck as Plex succeeded in creating with their new Roku Experience. And just go look on their forums to see how well received that was.

But anyways, to answer your questions:

  1. Without access to Library or the ability to mark something as collected Trakt becomes almost useless.
  2. I use Trakt not just to monitor ā€œNext Upā€ items but also to manage the Watch List of my owned items (digital and physical). The entire point of being able to integrate Trakt with database management software like Kodi, Plex, Emby etc is premised on the desire to track what we as users own or have access to, what we’ve watched, what’s next etc. Taking away that integral part of the website makes Trakt far less valuable. And to be blunt completely unneeded. I can use a myriad of other websites to accomplish what Trakt has been reduced to with the new website. Ninety nine percent of those are free. And those that charge for sure don’t get $60 from me.
  3. This question is almost impossible to answer as I’d hazard a guess I speak for most here when I say just leave well enough alone. The current Trakt website works fine. Those that want a Lite version can do so. The one almost mandatory improvement needed besides (1) is an easier return to the ā€œClassicā€ website. If you can put a link on the Classic, you most definitely can do the same in reverse.

On the mobile app how can one vote on a show/movie and where does it display previsouly voted shows/movies ?

Seems to be removed or not present

I’ll refrain from listing them because of limitations on discussing competitors, but it depends on your needs and desires tbh. The main one that many defected to earlier this year after the list item reduction (and is easily found in some of those discussions) has some limitations that don’t make it ideal for me although the website layout is much more pleasing. There are a few self-hosted options too. Like I said it really depends on your exact needs but this is probably not the best place to discuss if we want to keep this thread open.

As a VIP user for 12 years now, I have to agree with the absolute majority of the previous posts here.

I accepted the price increase with a heavy heart. But if the decision is made to discontinue the current Trakt layout, I will cancel my paid account immediately. If the current layout is retained and further developed, and the new Trakt exists alongside it, that’s fine with me, but if the old layout goes, I’m definitely leaving.

The new layout is an absolute reduction to some basic functions (and not even all of them) while significantly worsening clarity and usability. It would be such a step backward that it would be hard to believe and quite sad to be honest.

Please, PLEASE don’t give up on the current layout!

I can’t even sort a list A-Z, and my watchlist doesn’t even keep the same ranking.

I am truly sorry but this is just embarrassing.

In order to not throw the baby out with the bathwater, I do like how lists fill the entire page instead of being limited to 6 columns.

Been a fan of this site for as long as I can remember, never really come on to the forums to say anything but always wanted to be apart of it year on year. I am not a fan of the lite look and feel, and will not be using it.

Thank you for not removing the old design from the web based stuff. If there is a way, or at all an option to do so, the mobile app being able to default back to classic as well. If it’s being forced to use lite here on out, I’m just going to remove the app and use the web based option..

On the new update on Android the list is not showing the movies in correctly order, compared to the web UI

Cancelled my VIP renewal today and actively exploring other options.

I would encourage the dev team to go listen to the near universally negative reaction to this announcement - and at the very least - press pause on the rollout until you can deliver something better to replace the ā€œClassicā€ experience. Lite isn’t it.

I can’t understand the approach here - deliver something lacking so many of the core features of the product - and you have had 15 years of user feedback and data on live usage to understand what they are - and then asking your users what they might be.

ā€œWe do not want to simply copy features from Classic as they areā€ - this worries me more than anything - feels like the team is actively working to turn Trakt into a completely different product, for whatever reason?

Oh dear, this is a complete downgrade right now. What’s with the horizontal scrolling? Now instead of using the perfectly designed scroll wheel on my mouse, I have to click and drag the scroll bar left and right.

It’s a desktop site, not a mobile site! My mouse isn’t a touchscreen nor does it come with a horizontal scroll wheel. Why does it seem every site now is just becoming mobile sites?

On top of all that, I can’t find a way to view my history, comments, collections, notes and ratings. For some reason you’re switching to the inferior 5 star system, how exactly are you going to accurately convert user’s ratings from a 10 point rating system down to 5? I know you haven’t done that yet because movies I’ve rated are not showing as any rating on the new design. Also I can no longer see all the comments, I click that arrow, get a popup on the right hand side and it’s completely blank! The only comments I can see are the few in the horizontal scroll I have to click and drag

And for the first time ever, I’ve been seeing page elements popping in as they load. So obviously the site isn’t faster if I have to wait for things to load.

This is far from being ready, it’s missing so many features from the ā€œclassicā€ site.

Can we please have an option for the up next to display the series thumbnail and not the episode.

With episode thumbnails they all look the same and I cant tell what the actual show is

Out of curiosity, where does this leave users who actually used Trakt Lite for what it was advertised as, a streamlined basic version of Trakt without all the extras that cluttered the UI?

That was the point of Lite wasn’t it? But as you’re making Lite the new Trakt and adding back those features, you’ve just taken that away from them.

Now it’s just angered both groups, those who loved Lite and those that hate it.

One of the worst update I ever saw in any app. Less features, worst profile, inconsistent Ul, can’t see the director of a movie, changing the rate from 1 to 10 to 1/5 stars (how this will change my old votes?) and you can’t even vote from the app anymore ffs

Are you trying to destroy yourself?

I am mainly a user of the chrome browser version of trakt, but occasionally, I do use the Android app.

There are things I like about the new experience. I will say it seems to run faster than Trakt Classic. Also, I can understand that working on one version of the app would be easier on development than a website and several apps.

My biggest issues with using the New Trakt app on the web are the lack of sorting options. I tend to change from time to time, but I currently have Up Next set to sort by release date. I also like having my watchlist integrated into my Up Next, so having the ability to turn that on/off seems like an important feature. At a minimum, I would like to be able to sort in my Watchlist. The Start Watching section on the home screen is unusable, because I can’t figure out why those are the 100 watchlist items that are on top.

Additionally, there seems to be some items missing from my Continue Watching section. It seems that any items that I have watched the most recent episode, but not finished the whole series do not appear. It would be nice if we could see the entire list of Continue Watching as well.

I doubt I am the power user that some of the other people on here are, but until I have the above problems resolved, I will not be using the New Trakt experience.

We were at this stage before with trakt changing things without listening to feedback. Actually the last 1.5-2 years are a constant in that.

If you guys think trakt is going to listen to your feedback you are dead wrong. The redesign with the new (stupid) logo and the complete color overhaul was the beginning of the end for us heavy users. That back then set the tone and all this what is happening now was already set in motion.

I said this before - this bus is heading for the brick wall. No company ever has survived such a disservice to their OG customer base. The new generic design is for generic users. Those users won’t pay the bills though. Why would they if they can get the same hollow thing for free at the next corner when this one decides to charge all customers as soon as they figure out no VIPs are left…

It’s frustrating to see. It’s frustrating that we don’t know what happened to @justin since he seemed out of the picture. It’s frustrating to get hollow or snappy answers by the product manager himself. It’s frustrating that we all poured so much love, money and effort into this project to be betrayed like this. But they will only understand if you vote with your wallet.

I have been used Trakt a third of my life at least once a day. This website is super important for me.

The start page is clustered. It shows what for me is uncessesary information in start watchning. The continue watching features dropped shows (on a gray scale poster) which defeats the point of dropping something.

My lists seems to be gone. As I can only see five of them (plus the watchlist). I do not know where the rest has gone.

As for the list itself is where my biggest problem lies. In the old one you could sort by rank, added date, release date, runtime, site ratings, collected/not collected etc. This function I use all the time as well as being the able to filter by your streaming services. Either a specific one or all at once. I can’t seem to find an csv-export?

The new one is missing the Last 30 Days overview which I loved to just quickly each time I open up Trakt to seee those nice bar charts over the last few days.

I also can’t find a way to see my library where I add all my blu-rays and dvds.

The ratings and genre overview also seems to be missing.

As for when I open up a film. I can only rate it out of five which is a dealbreaker for me. A 10 grade system is necessary. The Metacritic score missing (can see IMDB & Rotten Tomatoes). But the most broken feature right now is the ā€œwatch againā€ button. That’s the only thing I can click and it automtacilly logs the film right now. Whilst I may want to log it another date. A dealbreaker for me. When i search for a series there is no quick overview of how many episodes I’ve seen (quantity, percent & total plays (i.e. rewatches)), what i’ve rated each season and how many episodes total i’ve seen

The 2025 year to date looks the same which is nice but I am indeed missing the arrows to go to prior years and my all time stats. Stats are what separates Trakt from it’s comepitors. I LOVE stats. It’s the most important.

As for performance. It’s a great bit slower than normal Trakt. Especially when searching.

That’s all I could find on a first glance

In it’s current state there is no chance I can use the new website if it is forced on the users. I hope we get all the improvements necessary before the switch. It’s missing all the core features which makes Trakt incredible.

I use Chrome on my pc.

The new site is horrible. Where is my stuff? You know, the stuff that I’m interested in and that I pay to keep track of? Can’t find history, ratings, collection or anything. All I’m getting are recommendations and things other people are doing (if I actually followed anyone, which I don’t)

Also, horizontal scrolling is awful, especially in a desktop setting.
