Took over 2 hours and there’s finally been some activity. But I can’t tell for which of my 3 servers it has worked. And got 4 emails telling me to fix.
The emails are being generated because it’s not able to contact your server for some reason. Since the sync does eventually work, it seems like a temporary issue. So I might rethink how the emails are sent.
Are there any settings I need to be aware of on the plex side? I’m currently running an instance that is cloud hosted with elfhosted. Does that make any difference?
I’ve unlinked it. Despite not having any duplicated settings between the webhook and Plex Sync, and only syncing “new” I’ve ended up with duplicate plays, and nothing in my watchlist from Plex synced at all.
Meanwhile:
NI think I’ll wait until this is out of the alpha stage before trying again.
Emails will be disabled in the next update. How big are your libraries in Plex? It seems to be getting truncated data for movies and timing out when querying for episodes.
EDIT: I pushed some updates and I am seeing the sync complete when I manually run it. You can check the sync details on your Plex settings page. I still received an error with truncated metadata for watched and library episodes that I am looking into.
EDIT 2: I think I found a fix for the truncated data. Basically, we look up metadata for movies and episodes when doing a sync. I reduced the number of items that are looked up in a single batch and I believe that will fix that bug.
EDIT 3: Success! The bug fix allowed your watched and library episodes to import as well. You can undo the syncs if you don’t want the data.
That is pretty weird, both the Plex Sync and Webhook operate independently so not sure why it would affect it. There is still a possibility for duplication if the timestamps don’t match up exactly, and I have seen it where that happens for some reason. It must be how Plex sends a webhook and it must use a slightly different timestamp for it.
It shouldn’t make a difference as long as a connection to the server can be made. I see several syncs on your account with a larger sync from Aug 18, 2025 5:51 PM – does that mean it worked ok for you?
Hmm, seems better but now getting no libraries found and cannot select a user or anything. I dont get any emails and definitely have libraries
Cloudflare bor fight mode was rejecting trakt connections
@eriohm I’m not sure what your asking about?
Disabling that in Cloudflare allowed the Plex sync to work for you now?
I’ll try it again and see if it has the same issue. Something most definitely was preventing the “Checking In” from functioning. Maybe because too much was going on at the same time if it was syncing the data, I was streaming, and it was also trying to “Check In”. But as soon as I unlinked Plex Sync it resumed with showing what I was watching here again.
Just a fellow user here, but sounds like you need to adjust a checkbox down in the “PLEX SETTINGS” (last section all the way at the bottom) area on the Plex Sync settings page.
Considering the LIBRARY row says “Episodes (or Movies) in your Plex library will sync to your Trakt collection, with metadata” I’d assume that’s the one you’re after.
Now, if they’re already deselected, never mind. Again, I’m just a user
.
You can remove your Collection information. It’s rather simple and straight forward, but I can’t spoon feed you everything, so I recommend Googling it or better yet, search the forums you’re currently in.
Then go back, adjust your settings (that if they were a snake they would’ve bit you) and run your Sync(s) again. ![]()
Again – everything here is reversible; Syncs can be undone and Collection/History data can be removed ![]()
I’ll keep my comments regarding anything else to myself, good day sir.
Well it seems to have synced all the movie libraries fine but there seems to be absolutely nothing synced on the 3 tv series. Or any collections for that matter. Any way I can see somewhere what the issue is? Or check to see if that simply means everything I had in my “collected” list was already there? Although that doesn’t explain the lack of activity on the Watchlist as I intentionally added a movie to my Plex watchlist which doesn’t seem to have transferred over.
It allowed libraries to load and select a user. Still haven’t successfully run a sync though but definitely getting closer
Sync goes queued and then nothing, no email, no errors just doesn’t do anything:)
In the same boat. Connected and synced. States it’s queued, but nothing happens. Just unsure if I’ve altered settings on the Plex Server side that’s causing sync issues.
It’s not you, PlexSync is currently in Beta and it’ll take time for Trakt to work out any bugs, It’s getting there though.
Trying this out for the first time this week, definitely getting odd results (although admittedly I’ve not read this whole thread yet, maybe they’re not so odd?). Biggest standout is that history hasn’t synced at all. But it’s also odd that I got two apparently succesful (or mostly successful) syncs on first attempt, and then haven’t had any further successful syncs in the couple of days since (I’ve tried manually queueing and that’s not triggering anything either).
