Plex Sync BETA

Screenshots of Custom library, Plex Library and then my actual Plex library. As you can see EVERY item is in my Plex server’s library, it is only here that it ends up being split.

Custom Library:

Trakt Plex Library:

Plex Server:

Expanded Plex Server page for “recently added” (2nd server)

As is blatantly clear the “Custom” Library that Trakt is creating / has created contains only items that are in my actual Plex Library.

Yes… this had to be done because Plex Sync failed to sync (and as can be seen above I am not the only person having issues). It makes zero sense for anything we’ve had to add manually to be split into a separate library on here. It never was before, not for the past umpteen years of using Trakt, it shouldn’t be changed now.

It depends how the data was initially added. For the Pitt 2x07 it was added manually via the website, so that’s why it is in the custom library. For Borderline and Under the Salt Marsh, those were added from Plex Sync which is why it’s under plex.

If the item is already in your library, it’s not updating the data during a Plex sync since the item already exists in your library.

Based on your screenshots and how the items were initially added to library, it seems to match up from what I can see. I understand they exist in your Plex library, but perhaps the confusion is that we’re not updating the Trakt library items that already exist and tagging them as Plex.

@Ray_o Please post screenshots of your library on v3 for Plex and Custom. I’m not able to view your library directly.

But… the issue is that if Plex Sync misses a sync, or just randomly stops working, it NEVER catches up to the old items again. They just go missing in a void unless manually added.

There also is (was?) a bug that when (re)connecting Plex to Trakt, the bar with the dropdown options box asking whether it should be all the “Only new plays” etc for Watched, Plays, Library, Ratings no longer seems to appear for me.

Most items in the Custom library are flagged as Blu-ray by Plex Sync, but I found some exceptions like ‘The Last Dance’ and ‘100 METERS’, which are labeled as Digital

I’ve gone through the entire v3 library, and I have to say, the interface is quite frustrating to use compared to v2. There are no item counts, no filters, and no pagination—I have to wait several seconds for items to load as I scroll down.

According to v2, my library has 4,261 items, but I counted only 613 items in the v3 Plex library. This leads me to believe that all the remaining items are being shoved into the Custom Library.

Hello Justin,

I use Plex hosted on an Ultra.cc seeebox, internally they use port 32400 but externally, the only port in able to use and gives “Remote Access Enabled” is port 20975. Please could you add this as a port, I have tried all the alternatives whilst editing my Plex Settings (using the Ultra.cc VPN otherwise I can’t “locally” connect to edit the ports) - but they all fail to allow external except Ultra.cc’s dedicated port 20975.

I HAVE been using it, though not perfectly connected, it did allow the syncing of my Watch History and Ratings (I use the webhook for live watching) - up until 21/02/26 where it stopped and now won’t connect at all to my Plex (after Disconnecting and trying to Sign In to Plex again through the Plex Sync page).

Please advise regarding the port, or connecting back my Plex so I can continue to use this, rather than reinstalling and using PlexTraktSync as I did originally.

It should still work even with the port assigned by Ultra. One of my servers on a seedbox uses a non-standard port (and not opened port here) and still works (I believe because port 8443 is also used by Plex Sync). Note here: until the redesign of the Plex Sync page it was possible to hover over the Plex Server and see the port it was using to connect, sadly that’s gone by the wayside now.

When faced with errors trying to reconnect like you’re seeing I’ve found the best method is to wait an hour or so. Disconnecting and immediately reconnecting just doesn’t seem to have the desired effect and leaves libraries unselected even after saving multiple times. Or at least that’s always been my result.

Thanks for the reply, CajunRob.

Unfortunately, it still isn’t working like before after disconnecting and then reconnecting.

It says that there is “No owed Plex servers found” (screenshot attached).

This is because I have the Plex server “owned” by my a profile for my seedbox, then my account (and family members) are part of the Plex Home - helps me ensure that all webhooks, etc. are just for MY Plex and not as the owner as shared.

However, it used to be fine for connecting and syncing my libraries on the Plex Media Server for Plex Sync, now it won’t due to this ownership.

my library has always been automatically added to Trakt via plex (using Trakt VIP plex sync) and as such metadata has been correctly tagged as well.

But since 13 Feb 2026 05:02 everything added to my library is now being tagged ‘dolby vision’ and I mean everything, from DVD 480p to BluRay 4K HDR. (Movies and Episodes)

Anyone else have this problem?

[Additional]

After checking some more it seems to be tagging films as HDR10 as well, I double checked my media to confirm no HDR present yet for some reason newly added media to Trakt library is getting tagged Dolby Vision or HDR10 in the metadata when it should be empty.

[Additional, Additional]

After having a bad feeling I applied a filter for my library to show all Dolby Vision and welllll f**k.. So much for only being from 13 Feb 2026 05:S02, I found one from 7 Dec 2002 20:12 that has Dolby Vision added to its metadata. I don’t know what’s going on now with all my HDR metadata.

[Side Note]

Just had a quick play around with the new app and what’s this Plex and Custom library sections thing? Why do I have stuff in a custom library? How do I get it out? Why?

And now my head hurts…

Anything you added manually is in there. Anything Trakt has tagged in the metadata during the import as being a physical item (despite it being synced via Plex Sync) will be in there. And no there doesn’t seem to be a way to move the items over. I’ve been trying to get this addressed for a while but have been the sole person to complain. At least now I have company

In all the years I’ve used Trakt I’ve never manually added something to my collection (library). I’ve just added 3 new films to my plex and they synced to Trakt library:

Train Dreams (2025) it’s been correctly tagged as Digital Video in Trakt metadata, again tagged as HDR even though it’s not.

I Swear (2025) it’s been correctly tagged as Digital Video in Trakt metadata, again tagged as HDR even though it’s not.

Frankie and Johnny (1991) it’s been correctly tagged as BluRay in Trakt metadata, again tagged as HDR even though it’s not.

Since Frankie and Johnny was tagged as BluRay (physical item) it would then end up in that ‘custom’ library but when checking in the new Trakt app it has been added to the ‘Plex’ library along with the other 2 new Digital items I just synced to Trakt.

Off the record so to speak, I actually like the new GUI of the Trakt app but then again I’ve never really used any Trakt app except to have a look at how it looks and functions. I’ve always used the main website v2 for maintaining my lists and to see what’s trending, everything else is done automatically via sync.

Then the import is totally inconsistent. Any digital files I have on my Plex server that contains the words “BluRay” in the filename are being synced to my “Custom” library with Plex Sync.

Well I’ve found a way to fix all my Trakt metadata but as for moving (or even tricking into moving) media from one ‘library’ to another, no joy.

For now at least TMM will let me sync my metadata from local to Trakt updating (fixing) current data.

It’s the same problem for me.
