The unfortunate reality (for me) Is that I cannot afford to keep my trakt VIP anymore. Which sucks. I tried to show some loyalty instead of just moving to SIMKL awhile ago. Not to mention, Plex is building out their review and rating functionality. – I am a pretty brand loyal kinda fellow. I don’t leave without good reason, Im your customer to lose. But it surely seems that this is trakt telling me to buzz off. I can’t deal with the 2x increase even if I wanted to.

The irony is that with Letterboxd blowing up, I’ve been a trakt evangelist of sorts. Oops. Can’t be right all the time I guess.

Wow. Oh well, life goes on… Not my first enshittification and certainly not the last.

Au revoir trakt. It was fun while it lasted.

I guess they assume they will pick up 88 new ones, problem solved. Maybe.

more than that. over $10k ($60 each). keep in mind it’s renewals.

I doubt it. With other alternatives emerging that look like they’ll offer the same features — and in some cases, even more — within a year, and at lower prices or even for free, I think this decision by Trakt could mark the beginning of the end for the company.

I’ve been VIP for a while and unfortunately, $60/year in just unreasonable for what is offered. My VIP will be ending in April of next year and I will not be renewing.

I know, but most of the VIP right now pay $30 and those are the one they are losing by canceling. I have supported Trakt for 11 years and I was paying $15.

yea makes sense.

I had been debating whether to keep it or not. I don’t use it for anything but for tracking what I’ve watched, but even that is basically just playing around and “keeping stats”. None of the features were even worth 30 to me, but I figured I’ll just support them. 30 doesn’t hurt. But 60 is just flat out too much, so thanks for helping me make up my mind, I guess?

Doubling in price is too sudden. Better to treat me like a lobster and slowly, incrementally, bring me to the boil. It is possible they’ve had an offer of a buyout, and they want to look in even better financial shape for better ones. There was a time I just used an exercise book and a spreadsheet to keep abreast of what I wanted to watch/had watched and when. It’s no problem doing that again.

Just cancelled mine after 8 years VIP. I love this site, but I can’t justify paying double. What a sad state of affairs.

I’ve only supported Trakt for 3 years, but I will not be renewing. Doubling my price on a renewal is simply bad business.

I like the service and all, but…they’re doubling the price and I get nothing in return for the increase? That’s not a particularly attractive proposition.

I am not renewing after this debacle. This one even pisses me off.

Right now 213 VIPs * 30 $ = 6390 $/year magically lost.

If it’s all about expenses then to me it would have made much more sense if they started charging all these other apps that use the Trakt API as a backend for their apps.

Not the loyal supporters who contributed without really needing or using the VIP features. Especially after promising people they were grandfathered in. That’s a hit Trakt’s reputation won’t recover from.

I completely agree with that. like that fee that trakt eats up for that special scrobbling for streaming platform feature is dumb. not everyone uses it yet that cost get put on VIP even if we don’t use it… it should be an add-on to VIP for ppl that care to use it…

The crazy party for me is it’s $60 USD, which once I pay in AUD is about $120 or more.

I continued my subscription due to wanting to support. I rarely use trakt, merely to make lists really.

I won’t be renewing.
