Just found out about this. I assumed the title of the thread was a general question.
I cancelled auto renewal at @justin himself’s instructions due to the two free months. And now when I go to renew it says $60 a year. If this cannot be changed to $30 a year when I contact support about this in 2 months it would be completely unacceptable.
Damn. Mine expired and my card was no longer valid. I went to renew a couple days later. $60. That’s shame. I liked sponsoring, but I don’t use any of the VIP features except no ads.
Yes, this week, because I wanted to renew my subscription and I found out the new price. No one has publicized the upcoming price increase, no e-mail as a “Vip”. So, in a couple of days I’ll be a “Nip” :-). Is Trakt a “one man band” or someone is answering to customers, when the boss is out of office? @Sonply
This is not “The” solution. No one is officially answering on the forum, and you will likely lose a bunch of subscriptions, because you did not send any e-mail warning the “so called” Vip of the incoming price increase. I’m very, very, very upset, because I have my Plex server connected to Trakt, and 30 usd was a fair price, or, at least, an affordable one. That’s why I supported you. And as far as I am a “Vip” (active auto renewal or not) I think I’m eligible to maintain the old price. @Sonply
Have you read the rest of this thread? The response you’ve linked to tells users to contact support to have the original price point honored. When they do so, support is informing them that they are not considered to be active members if auto-renewal was disabled at any point, regardless of whether or not their subscription has yet to expire. As such, those users don’t qualify for the grandfathered price and they must pay the new price. That is contrary to what the post you linked to says.
And there was one from a member who was considering VIP and asking if there would be a BF sale, and they were directed to support as well.
If it was as simple as that, I would be emailing support myself and asking for the $30 deal, but if existing VIP members who cancelled their autorenewal can’t get it, then I don’t see the point in wasting my (and their) time asking.
If I had seen the offer to get in before the 5th September, I would have, but hey ho.
Did you receive any e-mail or any communication announcing the incoming price increase? As a loyal customer (not only as a so called “Vip”) I expect a communication that alerts me of the price increase…
Ok, so, where’s the community manager? Do they read the “Vip” forum? I’m inclined to think that they don’t want our (or - at least - my) money. I began to support them (as “Vip”) after the site crashed 2 or 3 years ago and for the way they managed to solve the issue… but now… meh… Consider that english is not my language, so it’s not easy for me to explain my disappointment.
Trakt doesn’t feel the same anymore like it used to do back in the days. I used to be so passionate about the site. People called me a Trakt salesperson lol! But now… I’m still OG VIP and use trakt all the time. It just feels different now sadly. It feels like I suddenly became a villian because I said some controversial things and people made huge drama about it. The enjoyment was kinda gone after that. I however still think it’s an awesome website. It would be heartbreaking if it would die. It’s understandable but still sad to see VIPS leave after this change, because those are the people that keep the website running. I do think they are willing to fix your problem so you probably have nothing to worry about.
But yes, I didn’t get an email about this change either and that is disappointing, eventhough it won’t effect me personally since I have auto renewal on. A headsup to your most loyal people would be nice.
Never agreed so much to anything. First the (not announced) price increase and then the complete design change + absolutely disastrous feedback management.
Why not send an email to all accounts about the price increase? Why not test a majoresign change in a VIP web beta?
I’m honestly sad how trakt changed, so probably will not renew my subscription.
I don’t remember getting any e-mail about the price change, and I do receive e-mails from Trakt. Maybe this information was announced only on this forum?
Anyway, I wrote to the support asking if there’s any chance to renew VIP on the old terms and I will see what the answer going to be. In the worst-case scenario, my 10-year VIP career will end.
